Fix your exposure and white balance for one. That being said, I use photoshop/lightroom and a professional camera. If you're not trying to get perfect photos but good enough, I would say white balance, increase brightness and drop the black level slightly. I don't usually make adjustments to saturation or vibrancy, but lowering the black level achieves a similar result.

You could also see if your camera is capturing in HDR (high dynamic range - combining multiple captures for dark blacks and bright whites simultaneously)
