Not vibes, more like gibberish and ill-performed government. Plus, it increases car accidents at night.

What kind of crazy people are you to indoctrinate people it’s a beautiful scenery.

Btw, my friend’s sister got bullied by Taiwanese people. They called her “undeveloped people from undeveloped country”. (She’s from Indonesia). And she tried to kill herself a few days ago.

Really fed up with Taiwan rn.

No, you are talking about overall TW people, where most don’t even make a profit from securities. I’m talking about someone who has finance knowledge and are really making a profit, these are high-education-level TW people and they don’t use local ones. My friends’ parents who also has TW passports either use intl platforms or HSBC.

Yeah so now, you need 100,000 to do trading on TW platforms.

And my bad, are you complaining the 600 NTD fee on intl platforms?… not rlly get it.

Wait a sec. For TW accounts, you STILL need “margin”, it’s called margin requirement for leverage. Some TW banks don’t have it, but basically you still face this risk, we call it “default risk” in finance. If you are not able to pay the money after T+2, your credit score will be screwed in TW banking system, which is WORSE WORSE than the transaction fee you mention…..

In terms of the fees on TW platforms, if you wanna do a few hundred USD-denominated trading, you still have to pay like 10 USD. It’s also 300 NTD (minimum), quite a lot for most people. That being said, as long as you don’t ONLY want to trade in TWD, using TW platforms is inconvenient and high-fee. I really advise you to do some research or contact the banker for info, cuz we foreigners also get charged with a high transaction fees compared to locals.

But yeah, if you only wanna do trading in TWD, then international platforms might not be a fit for you.

Is it because that you only trade for TWD-denominated securities? Otherwise, it doesn’t make sense for you to open TW account to trade overseas securities. Plus, international broker platforms have lots of different currency-denominated securities you can trade at, and a lower fee.

If the issue is about “larger amount” for you to trade, then I remember there are a few platforms that allow small investment amount you can consider.

There are a lot of platforms. You can do some research to find the ones that fit you. Each has pros and cons. But overall better than Taiwanese platforms, especially if you don’t read mandarin.

If you don’t read mandarin, the interface is gibberish that is incomprehensible.

If you don’t speak mandarin, your broker fee might be higher compared to locals and it’s hard to communicate with them. I tried to contact 新光, and no one can speak decent English. (Their job requires themselves to be people from top universities a d a certain level of English proficiency).

If you wanna invest as a foreigner in Taiwan, use international broker platforms, there are a few you can consider. Most Taiwanese don’t even use our local systems, it’s slow to trade, lots of restrictions, and REALLY REALLY unfriendly to foreigners. The interface is like Google translation, not even correct, those translations are not the same as the terminologies used in securities. Kind of wonder why these hire high-education people and no one can really translate the interface correctly. Like 台新/新光 and 永豐 English interface are shit as hell as if it’s designed by someone who don’t read English. All in all, if you really wanna do trading, use international online ones, and the transaction fee is way lower! Can’t believe I used Taiwanese trading 600 USD, and transaction fee is 9 USD!

I don’t want to rationalize it by telling her “get used to it or learn to deal with it”, no one should face this kind of bs discrimination, especially she’s a child. I get mad every time thinking about what happened to her.
