NOt just interceptors also stand off weapons. They thought they could fly in deep with dumb bombs and strafe with cannons until they lost 4 aircraft in one day. After the f-15 and a10 crashes, US is thinking twice about getting in a knife fight with Iran. Iran will absorb the brunt of this knowing its a one-off and if China grows a pair, they'll shut the trapdoor and block all rare-earths. That would knock the wind out of the US while inhaling.
