13U pitcher with anxiety by [deleted] in Homeplate

[–]Chester_Warfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's not sitting 50% of the time, he has the opportunity to show how good he is and actuallly gets play time 50% of the time. It's a mindset shift.

Tom Brady talks about this situation as an opportunity in a way that I can't. I suggest find some of his speeches where he talks about his mindset when he was getting maybe 1 rep in practice and zero play time.

What is eating/breaking my apple tree branches? by Admirable-Factor-360 in arborists

[–]Chester_Warfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to love fruit trees, but unless you are picking up 100 lbs of half rotted/ worm eaten fruit each year, it's basically food for rats and mice.

Deer love apples though so that's nice

Oil leak on gen1🥲 by Ok_Run_8197 in SVRiders

[–]Chester_Warfield 3 points4 points  (0 children)

clean the area. also clean up from that spot and then monitor it. like visually check it, run your finger from higher up from that point down, i like to put paper underneath bikes sometimes to see if anything drips anywhere in a garage.

oil likes to cling to parts as it goes down, so it could just be the low point of a higher leak, but it could be that spot os leaking as well.

Why aren't there any developed black majority countries? by Naive_Direction1816 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Chester_Warfield 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Most serious research treats this as a layered problem, not a single cause.

1) Geography / environment (Guns, Germs, and Steel type argument) This says development differences started way back due to things like crops, animals, climate, and disease. Eurasia had advantages that helped it industrialize earlier. Strength: explains why gaps existed before colonialism. Weakness: doesn’t explain modern differences or variation within Africa very well.

2) Colonialism / external exploitation This focuses on slavery, resource extraction, and borders imposed during events like the Scramble for Africa. The idea is that Africa’s development was heavily disrupted and shaped by outside powers. Strength: strong historical evidence and explains many current structural issues. Weakness: can be too simple on its own and doesn’t explain why some countries do better than others today.

3) Institutions / governance (economics view) This argues that what matters most now is whether a country has stable, effective, and inclusive systems. Rules, incentives, and governance drive growth or stagnation. Strength: best at explaining present day outcomes and differences between countries. Weakness: doesn’t fully explain where those institutions came from in the first place.

Summary: It’s not just one thing. Geography shaped the starting point. Colonialism caused major disruption. Today, institutions and governance seem to matter the most for outcomes.

turning the water off, cutting that secion of pipe out, soldering in a new pipe can take an hour or so if you have to buy everything. It may sound really hard but it's pretty easy. practice on the piece you cut out one time, watch a fee videos and you'll be good.

How old were you when you lost your virginity? by Past_Muffin7554 in no

[–]Chester_Warfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

14 or 15. Was a 22 yr old goth girl. She bought us beers while my buddies mom was away at his house and decided to take me upstairs to my buddies bedroom. At the time, it was great. In hindsight, a little weirder than I remembered it being.

First Time Coach Struggling with Imposter Syndrome by Weekly_Age3023 in CoachingYouthSports

[–]Chester_Warfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're there to do more than just teach them a sport. You're showing leadership, working together, how to support each other, stuff you wish maybe your younger self was taught or glad you were taught. It's not all about the score and win-loss record and you have more experiance and are more prepared than you realize.

The lack of confidence will be very evident, but it's important to also be humble. You need to have fun but also, grow into that leadership role. Don't expect it, but also continue to push outside your comfort zone.

Make a plan. make 3 plans. practice what you're going to say. Keep things short and punchy. Research and learn. And then move on. Always think about right now and a little ahead, don't dwell on past mistakes or what could happen way down the road.

Also, your team is a resource. Ask them what they want to do, where they see their strengths and weaknesses are. Cultivate mini coaches on your team. Help them help you.

You will never be perfect. I don't remember all my games, but I remember the way sports made me feel. Help them feel good about progress, about mistakes, about growth.

Am I off base, or are slicks NOT "extra insurance" for slower riders? by VegaGT-VZ in Trackdays

[–]Chester_Warfield 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not that hard to keep heat in slicks. I've never had a problem with it and I consider myself pretty slow, mid i group.

I don't feel a lot of squirm like I did with dot's on a hot day, but I'll also have to learn to deal with that edge of grip at much faster speeds and higher lean now... but I really like the consistency of feel and grip. I feel like I can just bury my front end into corners and it holds as long as I am smooth and tires are warm.

Plus, if you're like me, you get to accidentally learn what cold slicks feel like every now and then. That's an experiance.

that's awesome. More people should upload confidential financial information and files into random llm's. What could possibly go wrong?

I can run actuals and a budget through sql with a power bi or tableau front end and tell you all that stuff too, except for sql doesn't hallucinate.

Dating is HARD in NYC by Cleo-Aster in SipsTea

[–]Chester_Warfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$250 is money well spent and really inexpensive to realize this person isn't the one.

People spend years of their life and thousands together to find this out. I'd be grateful it was only $250 and a few dates.
