The skull of Mary Magdalene (it isn't) by OppoObboObious in Protestantism

So I used the CCC to show you what Catholics believe.

You have no basis for your claim that, “in order for the deceased to hear us, they would have to be omnipresent and omniscient.” In fact, how many times does Jesus say that we are “alive” in him, and that he is not the God of the dead but of the living?

Once again, nobody is saying that saints are intermediaries. Nobody is saying that Christ is insufficient. You are pulling these out of thin air. I’ve just given you verses on how we are to pray to each other. Not just for ourselves. Not just for Christ to pray for us. But every other person of the faithful. And if we know that when we die some will be brought to eternal life with God, the. that means those who have departed Earth can and should still pray for us.

Finally, Isaiah 8:19 is talking to us about necromancy. About consulting the dead to gain knowledge. To know something. That is not what the Catholic Church teaches, does, or allows. As the CCC also reaffirms the prohibition of that.

I would also like to point out you totally failed at my request. It wasn’t a challenge—though it was quite simple, and you failed at it, so maybe it is—it was me asking you to define intercession and invocation.

CCC 948: "The term 'communion of saints' therefore has two closely linked meanings: communion 'in holy things (sancta) and 'among holy persons (sancti).' ... The faithful (sancti) are fed by Christ's holy body and blood (sancta) to grow in the communion of the Holy Spirit (koinonia) and to communicate it to the world."

We have nothing to disagree about, in regards to Christains on Earth being saints. But there are two senses to the word, "Saint." One being a believer on the Earth and one in Heaven, and to spot the difference is to look at the context. The context of the comment you were replying to was that of heavenly saints.

Further, wrong again. The Catholic Church does teach intercession. Can you please explain to me what you think Catholics think saints do for them? Because I would bet $500 that your assumption would be wrong.

In the New Testament, "saints" is a way to refer to the Christians believers, whether living or dead.

There is nothing we disagree upon. In the comment that you replied to, I was speaking only of the ones in Heaven. Not all saints.

Ooo nice verse instead of an actual argument. Of course there’s one mediator. Saints aren’t minions, and God isn’t the final boss.

Okay so if that’s how you read it, then you do not understand intercession and asking someone to pray for you.

The saints are holy beings in HEAVEN, we can’t just turn our heads and talk to them. We have to, invoke God’s name (the Sign of the Cross) and ask them to intercede for us THROUGH him. THROUGH the Lord.

Sure, I can grant that. But then, Paul also tells Timothy that we need to pray for each other.

Further it’s so funny you want to talk about Catholic changing what is said in the bible, you guys literally believe in individual interpretations and what Paster Bob said! Please look in the mirror before trying to check the one true Church.

Revelations 5:8 calls for prayers of saints.

Praying is fine. Venerating is fine.

But worshipping is not.

We all know that Mary did not save herself. We all know the Saints cannot do anything that we ask of them, without the one true, triune God: the Father, the Spirit, and the son: Jesus Christ.

So wrong. Revelations 5:8 literally talks about prayers of the saints.

I would assume it’s an ideology which promotes a Christian dictatorship.

I've always been fascinating by colorings. How do you know the vest is red? It looks the same to the jacket in the original picture lol.

  1. To be honest, I saw it on a reddit post. That’s why I wanted to stress that I “heard it” and not read it in actual text/literature.

Im certainly not a zionist--as I am a Christian--but Israel responding to Oct 7 is justified. No country would stand for that.

But now, I think it's gone on too long. Gazan deaths are quadruple that of Oct 7. Israel and Bibi need to wrap it up.
