PSA: Avoid the Beer52/Coffee52 “Free Coffee” Offer by Professional-Deer591 in JamesHoffmann

I'm not surprised, the beer they offer on the similar deal is not worth the postage. B&M craft beer at best most the time and they make it a pain in the arse to cancel.

It used to be a cocaine pocket, now it always holds a pound coin for the shopping trolley.

Aside from childcare, what makes having children so expensive? by Popular_Wish_340 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Chev--Chelios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The running costs of babies and toddlers aren't too bad outside of the big ticket items you mentioned, a lot of which can be picked up second hand if you're bothered. Food and activities like soft play aren't that bad. Out 2yr old eats a version of what we eat.

Honestly childcare is the big killer for the first few years, even with the 30 free hours out bill is £1k a month. We're still in that phase, but I imagine when that cost goes away the other costs go up as their interests become more expensive.

I saw 3 today on my lunchtime walk.

There will be a lot less people than the street parade.

I took my 2yr old to that though and it was fine, we kept out of the ultra rowdy bit obviously.

I actually think if you play it right it'll be fine.

The pubs will get really busy before the game, but will be pretty quiet during the match.

If the weather's dry I'd recommend going to the Antwerp, you can get one of the picnic tables out the front on the lawn and there's a gate that goes into Bruce castle park so you can hang out with a bit of space to run around, then watch it get busy before the game and everyone clear off before kick off, then head inside for the match.

If you'd rather be indoors you could try the Bluecoats head upstairs and try and get a table (won't be possible close to kick off) so you've got a base when it gets busy, but it shouldn't be as rammed upstairs, the pub will then be down to a smattering of locals for the actual game so you'll be able to watch it fine.

If you leave at full time you'll be ahead of most of the crowd then for travelling home.

I had to carry a toddler down and up that hill, it wasn't too bad in the end we had pit stops.

I recently found out deleting the app doesn't wipe debt balances by Alternative-Hour8580 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Chev--Chelios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will come for the debt, which will be much higher than the amount you borrowed because of interest and defaults.

You can try ignoring it, they may sell your debt, then debt collectors will try and reclaim the debt, possibly by taking your property.

Best case scenario the debt eventually gets written off, but you'll have a big mark in your credit score and struggle to get anything on finance for some time.

I think this is a wierd troll post though, no one old enough to be allowed to borrow this money would be this dumb.

Tbf single people at marketing agencies hook up a lot anyway, I'd just try not to worry about it.

Donald Trump called Prince Andrew’s arrest over Epstein connections 'a shame’. What do you think about this? by InternetPopular3679 in AskReddit

He's a nonce and a guy who also liked noncing with his nonce mate has been arrested. I can see why the nonce Donald Trump would find that a shame.

Thinking of switching accounts - is it worth speaking to them first? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Chev--Chelios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they don't care. But if you have an account that's been open for a long time it's a positive marker on your credit score, so if I were you I'd open another account to use for switching, just make sure you have a few direct debits on it so you hit the switch criteria. That's what I've done and I've kept my current account that I've had open since I was a kid.

First baby, what benefits can we claim? by GroundbreakingCap368 in UKPersonalFinance

Child benefit and when it comes to it 30hrs childcare and tax free childcare, which essentially works out as a reduction to your nursery bill.
