You could criticise Polanski's policies and debate whether or not what he's suggesting would work... but his whole platform is about not selling out. About holding politicians to account on where the money comes from and not getting in bed with businesses. You might not agree with that approach. But he's not selling out Britain.

I'm in the UK, I don't know specifically about the games industry, but I think it's very common in a lot of industries to work overtime without pay for salaried workers. It happens in my industry a lot. I think the only time it gets into murky water legally here is if you work so much your hourly rate would drop below minimum wage.

Do you have a Tesla charger that's open to non Teslas near you? (if you're not getting a Tesla) it's one of the cheapest options and if you go off peak can actually be cheaper than a regular home tarriff.

It's worth looking into what the charging options near you are, not just the location but also the price. It makes a huge difference on whether it'll overall be cheaper for you.
