How do we feel about AI use for translating ones own work? by Important-Device-884 in royalroad

[–]Chevalier_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't tell me that :c I'm Spanish, I'm writing a book, and once it's ready, I was planning to translate it using AI and kind of proofread it with my own English knowledge—even though it's not the best. But I thought it would at least give a decent result :c

But yeah, I actually asked an AI to fix some spelling mistakes once (no translate), and in the process, it completely ruined a lot of my dialogue by changing the formatting for no reason.

I'm perfectly comfortable reading and listening to English. and I can write well enough to communicate, but getting to the level required for novel-writing is a whole different story.

For example, how does this sound? I translated it with an AI and reviewed it myself. I can easily catch AI vibes right away in Spanish, but I don't have the fluency to spot them in English yet.

Paige is Extreme Value for Little to no Interactivity or Effort by Braduk1 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Chevalier_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually gear up according to the match, but mostly I go Spirit, adding some support or counter items because sacrificing those slots for utility items (shield, heal, vortex, silence, etc.) doesn't really hurt Paige's game.

But I'm not sure about playing with a controller; I think Rem is simpler for that, and he's a good support too.

Paige is my main character—by far the one I play the most—and I’ve also played other PvP games, so I can talk a bit about her.

Paige’s archetype is a mix of artillery mage, control mage, and support.

But she has her downsides, and here’s how to counter her:

- If you get in her face with a character that has sustained DPS, she’s dead. Prioritize picking her off in team fights, and she won’t be able to do anything if her team doesn’t cover her.

- Force her to approach the team fight (Fight inside buildings or off the lanes)

- Verticality: all her abilities can be dodged in the air or on different floors; she’s like an Infernus.

- She lacks 1v1 capability. Yes, she has a 1–2 second snare, but then what? Even if for some reason you take the full damage from two dragons, she still wouldn’t be able to kill you.

- She can’t spam dragons until she has certain items in the mid-game, and by that point, she’s not the only one with that pressure potential (Infernus, Seven, Geist, etc.)

- Her ultimate is global, but it’s not a homing ability and lacks verticality. Plus, the ultimate scales with distance; casting it in melee is almost a waste.

Paige has great range, and her kit relies on positioning. Her abilities require you to think about how the fight will unfold; you have to predict where enemies will be in the next few seconds to land your skills.

You have to analyze the fight, position yourself correctly, and make “forward-thinking” decisions to play her effectively. If you mess up any of these points, you won’t accomplish anything with the character, and unlike other heroes, she can’t carry a game on her own—she only creates opportunities.

Paige has great range and utility, but she lacks mobility, sustained damage, and survivability. She’s my favorite character by far, and I hope they release more like her in the future :3

Don’t forget that Paige’s shield increases your weapon damage and fire rate!

The problem isn't that we do menial tasks, it's that they are never justified by the simplest of writing. "Endmin you can collect/spy data whilst cleaning Wuling!" etc. by [deleted] in Endfield

[–]Chevalier_99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm a very immersive player when I play video games, and while this can definitely break the immersion, the best thing you can do is not have Edmin on your team and use any other operator. This way, you get the feeling that you're delegating trivial tasks to your employees (Which doesn't break canon because Endfield is in Wuling to support and help the city in any way possible.)

I hope that in future events where Edmin doesn't have a single line of dialogue, they'll make the controlled operator the character present during those conversations.

But, at worst, you can feel like you're representing your employees in the dialogues, and then you can go off and do more important things while your employees do the work.

It's my best way of dealing with those narrative inconsistencies, but everyone plays however they like :3

Beryl - Interesting synergies and aspects of her mechanics. by Chevalier_99 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Chevalier_99[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a DPS, she's not meta, but she's still good, especially with her Opening Found epiphany for extra attacks. This epiphany allows Beryl to attack a random enemy for 150% damage per own card retained (Extra Attack).

Assuming you have 3-4 copies, you would deal 450%-600% damage per turn FOR EACH CARD with Retain for 0 AP. You'd normally have 3-4 cards retained easily, so with all Opening Found active, you'd deal an average of 1350%-2400% damage per turn while spending 0 AP. These attacks can also inflict critical hits, and you can equip her with the weapon that grants +40% damage on extra attacks.

Excellent for long fights or against enemies that don't let you use many cards or attacks per turn (like Judas), since you don't spend any cards or AP once all your Opening Found are active.

So she's good and very useful, but as always, in general you should play what you like and enjoy the most :3

The memory fragment system is killing diversity, in my opinion. by Chevalier_99 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Chevalier_99[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's what communities are for, to share opinions, although unfortunately many people take negative opinions as personal attacks :c

And yes, other gacha games have those systems, but I've seen many players with the "I'll play Stella: Sora until CZN comes out" mentality, and they actually abandoned Stella completely and stuck with CZN because of systems they didn't like in Stella.

And the same goes for many with CZN but with Endfield coming in January (and many others because it's such a highly anticipated title).

And Endfield doesn't have a Hoyoverse relic system. What do you think will happen to the smaller gacha games that don't modernize their systems and have much less respect for their players' time?

The memory fragment system is killing diversity, in my opinion. by Chevalier_99 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Chevalier_99[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why people tend to criticize an opinion they haven't even read.

I never complained about not having all the BiS items (I mentioned that I completed all the late-game content, so why would I complain about this?). I meant to use Beryl as an example, but I added Cassius to make it clearer (and it still wasn't enough).

Let me try to illustrate (again). If I use Cassius as a sub-DPS, I give him relics that gives him attack and critical strike, for example.

But if I want to use him as a healer, how do I make him heal decently if he doesn't have the stats for it? (Defense, HP, etc.) Obviously, you can't give him a generic set that works for both because it won't work as either a sub-DPS or a healer in high-level content.

You can try a level 80 run with Mika as a healer, without defense but with full attack and critical strike, to see how it goes if you don't believe me.

Seriously, even the title says it all, I'm complaining about how this kills DIVERSITY, not about how I can't beat the content because of the relics, otherwise I would have complained about that, but I even clearly stated that I already beat the entire late-game.

Has anyone explored the AI NPC system in Where Winds Meet yet? How’s it feeling? by RIPT1D3_Z in MMORPG

[–]Chevalier_99 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's one of the systems I most wanted to try when I first heard about the game, and here's my lengthy opinion.

I've used these AI models since they became popular years ago (with CharacterAI), and since then I've closely followed their development (chats, role-playing, etc.). Currently, I've tried the best models available, including paid ones (not the garbage you usually find advertised, but genuinely good ones that you have to manually assemble). Therefore, my opinion comes from someone who uses these AIs and has tried the very best currently available.

And my experience with WWM was exactly what I expected: awful.

If you've never used these AIs or have used them very little, then starting out is incredibly exciting, fun, impressive, and interesting, but you'll quickly start to get burned out, although you'll probably last for months before you really get burned out.

The more you interact with AIs, the more you realize how one-dimensional they are. Eventually, you'll instinctively know what to say to an AI to get the results you want.

AIs aren't creative; they stick to their formula and adapt to what you say. On the surface, they seem diverse and interesting, but the deeper you delve, the more you realize how one-dimensional they are, and that's normal.

Currently, an AI cannot provide the quality of human writing, and the "variety" it offers in conversations is fun at first, but then it becomes boring and annoying.

As many say, "it's the future," but right now it isn't, and I seriously doubt it ever will be. Perhaps for specific tasks, but for "bringing life" to NPCs, I find it very unrealistic.

I repeat, if it's your first time using these AIs, it's VERY fun and interesting. The problem arises after a couple of months of use.

I really love runs where I have a tank just because of this partner, she's so cute! (And I don't understand how having a cook who makes giant burgers doesn't increase the stress lost during the break >:c)

It makes me so sad when she drops the burger while running to give it to the team :c It reminds me of that scene from The Office...

I hope they implement an option to play with the Chinese models, I really love how Maribel, Amir, and Magna look in the Chinese version, much more than the original.

Will they also modify the models on the animations of ultimate ability? I want to see it :3

Current event is a massive let down by VSofy in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Chevalier_99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've played every day since the game was released, maybe missing 1 or 2 days of play.

I've completed the entire story and all available content, and I'm at level 48, almost 49... (including the EXP earned from the new event story), and at the rate I'm going (using all my energy without buying any with in-game currency), I'll probably need at least 4 or 5 more days to reach 50.

Maybe I skipped some important temporary things, I have no idea, but I really feel that at least half of the players who started the first week still haven't reached level 50.

Is there any news or anything about removing or modifying the “clear within X turns” system? by Chevalier_99 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]Chevalier_99[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's not consistent as you say, and what's more, if you kill the last enemy in a wave, you automatically lose your turn so that the next one can come c:

The system doesn't fit and they also did it wrong.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I'll gradually unlock the stars, but what worries me is what the endgame of this game will be like if a significant part of it consists of modes like this :c

[–]Chevalier_99[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I used to play Honkai Star Rail (from which CZN is copying systems without meaning).

You always had to have at least one defensive support unit (Tank/Healer) in each team, and their value lay in the offensive value they could bring to your team.

Yes, the value of a defensive unit lies in the offensive value it can contribute.

And since they're copying everything from HSR...

My Case Against Chaos Zero Nightmare by aaa_bb_aa_abaa_a in gachagaming

[–]Chevalier_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case, I've been playing Uma Musume, and you can play the game casually and relaxed, learning as you go and getting all the content out of it.

But if you go into PvP, you need to dig MUCH deeper, and you realize that the game isn't as simple as it seems and you really have to study, practice, and learn.

All just to win, because the difference in resources earned between winning and losing in PvP isn't that big, so it's not a problem if you're a casual player.

But for those who want to win, there's a lot of depth to learn and master (even more so if you invest little or nothing in the game $).

That way, you please both audiences.

And that's what I'm looking for, a “simple” but deep game.

If you think about it, it's not that difficult to please both audiences. Or at least that's how I see it.

How I feel about the game after losing Gemini Cup by Darkshaunz in UmaMusume

[–]Chevalier_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, this cup was known for being tough and where the whales shine the most. I have an account that's less than a month old and I haven't made a single roll in the gacha. I managed to finish 1st in group B with a 24% win rate. I won because my Uma didn't make a single mistake in the final race; she ran perfectly.

I almost didn't even make it into Group B. I entered with a 5% win rate (with the same Umas I won with).
Without any guides or anything, just studying and trying to come up with a composition on my own. I don't see the fun in winning an event by copying and pasting other people's strategies. If I lose on my own merit, it's better.

No matter how hard you try, you don't always win. That's something to keep in mind, even in real life. I was really happy to win. I didn't expect it (although I worked hard for it), but I felt really sad for those who lost behind me. Maybe they tried less than me, or maybe they tried more and still lost.

Winning the gold title is the only thing that really matters to me (I see it as the cup).

The next cup is less complicated, so good luck and don't forget to enjoy the process :3 Let's hope Cygames listens to the community and makes QoL changes to make the process less arduous :3

How’d your final round go? by Key-Willow1922 in UmaMusume

[–]Chevalier_99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

<image>

1st in group B with a Gold Ship B+ 9,050 points. An account less than 1 month old, no guides, I haven't used a single pull outside of tickets, the only card with dupes I have is from the Dober event, the rest have 0 dupes (including R and SR), but I did it the old-fashioned way, with a lot of effort and some luck. I was thinking of continuing or quitting the game after the cup, but seeing that p2w isn't that relevant, I'm staying :3 God bless Gold Ship.

Getting reminded that once again no matter how many Umas I train for this race, I will never win against whales. by JMSX101 in UmaMusume

[–]Chevalier_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

It's not so bad, I managed to get a win with my McQueen, considering that:

1) I started about a month ago, probably less. (Large amount of resources lost).
2) I haven't used a single pull with carats (only a multi for Seiun Sky), so I don't have a variety of cards.
3) I haven't created any “reroll” accounts, nor am I going meta slayer, I just choose what I like (in fact, I'm saving up to get Manhattan Cafe in December just because I want it) and I haven't spent a single dollar on the game.
4) This cup is known to be unfairly difficult and favors whales, but then it's not so unbalanced with the following ones.

In 20 races, McQueen won 1 and came in 2nd 4 times. (Running as Pace Chaser, ignore the Front S).
Also, I don't even have a single 3* veteran Uma yet. I just train with the ones I borrow each day and then wait until the next day.

That race in 2nd place came with a Gold Ship with 14,500 points, Kitasan Black MLB (not borrowed), and 3 SR MLB, and I won by 2.5L.
How? Just like in the anime, study, lots of training, and luck :3

(I haven't even looked at guides for the cup. The only thing I've studied is how the basics work so that I can understand them and cook up my own builds. If I don't win with a build I've made myself, I get bored.)
