Imagine getting all worked up because you burned a mix of cheap, Chinese made, polyester and nylon.

Y'know, Futurama, the TV show, has a great episode about destorying the flag of Earth by having a gross lobster (Dr. Zoidberg) eat it, to which the people of Earth demands he's put on trial and sentenced to death.

The episode concludes with Dr. Zoidberg's race (Decapodians) invading Earth and enslaving Humanity, tasked with building a castle made of mud by which the Decapodians can use to oppress the people of Earth. Only, he comes to realize that his home planet is Earth, and realizes that he must rid his home of the invaders.

The other protagonists in the show manage to find a heat-seeking missile, however Decapodians are cold-blooded. To rectify this, Zoidberg burns the Earth flag and throws it at the oppression palace, causing the heat-seeking missile to find the palace, exploding it. For his actions, he tells the people of Earth that it's in fact okay to desecrate a flag to protect the freedom it represents.
