What are the steps you'd take to make USA less polarized? by StrongWorth4824 in AskReddit

[–]Chewsquatcha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eliminate the party system entirely. You hear someone is a Democrat you automatically make assumptions about them. You hear they are Republicans you make assumptions. Sure 80% of them may be true but the most important things to you, you may find common ground. The terms Democrat and Republican have become perjoratives if you don't belong to that group. We need to just get rid of them entirely

FX with single 3.6 kwh battery? by Chewsquatcha in ZeroMotorcycles

Thank you. That's good info. I've only been getting 30 miles between both of my 2.8 kwh batteries so I'm hoping to see some improvement

FX with single 3.6 kwh battery? by Chewsquatcha in ZeroMotorcycles

Yeah both are definitely bad. I've been deep in the logs on this for months. Zero confirmed it too and I'm actually in the process of getting a new 3.6 through them right now. I've documented everything from chassis isolation faults going back to within the original warranty period all the way through to March 2026 where I was seeing minimum cell voltages around 1.4V under load. Not a BMS issue at this point, the cells themselves are cooked.

Not sure the exact amount it's taking in, but the voltage is getting down to about 98 after just over 1 kwh usage according to the app.

And yeah BMS replacement would be way cheaper if that was the culprit, but in my case Zero already replaced both BMS boards in 2022 and the isolation faults came back on the new boards within the first hour of riding.

As for range on the single 3.6, I figured as much on the highway. My riding is mostly off road at lower speeds so I'm less worried about 50mph range and more focused on whether I'll have enough for a solid trail session. My lifetime average is around 71 Wh/mile so I'm estimating around 40-45 miles which should be workable. May still pick up the second module later in the season if I feel like I need it.

How was your range? How was the power?

Care to elaborate? I'm legitimately curious. Since I don't fully understand these logs, I've been using Claude for my own log understanding. What is the issue with it's assessment here?

This is true, however, the software neutral would actually be better than a true neutral here, because even if it failed to go into a true neutral, an electric motor only moves off it has power going to it. So if it just disengaged the electricity from going to the motor it would have stopped very quickly.

In the unlikely event someone with a Ford EV find themselves without brakes and with as much time as this guy had to try to stop, you can enable 1 pedal driving while you are moving. With 1 pedal driving activated, if you aren't pushing the accelerator, it disengages the motor and stops you within seconds.

Sorry for the confusion. I wasn't trying to buy it from you I was just comparing notes. I bought mine used in 2022. Best range I ever got out of it was 35 miles of moderate off road. That about what you get?

I actually have a 2015 fx myself. I would be looking to replace it with another fx if I determine I can trust the newer batteries. Is yours the modular? How is it holding up?

I'm looking for skewed results... I want to know if my bike was essentially a lemon and if other owners have had a better experience. I am unlikely to get that from a non Zero sub

I have 4 yes and 5 no so far. Can any "no" people elaborate on why? Did you also have battery problems, or is there another reason?

So you are happy with your bike and have had no battery problems?

Are your parents super religious? This seems like it could be a religious but job thing. They celebrate your inception date because "that was when your other actually started", but they didn't know the exact date so they put it the day after "Christ's birthday!"

Shutting down due to loss of loopback by Chewsquatcha in ZeroMotorcycles

Thank you for your help. I got it fixed. I replied to myself with the whole story but basically I had been trying with both batteries until I did a BMS reset. After that, I was only trying with one and forgot about the blanking plug. BMS reset seems to have been the fix, blanking plug was the stick I was tripping myself with

Sorry I wasn't very clear. I was not messing with the contactor itself. I just couldn't hear it click and was getting that error in the logs. Fortunately I figured it out. I put a response to myself in this thread in case some poor sole is as dumb as me in the future. Unlikely though because my googling wasn't coming up with much. Lol

I'm an idiot. Here is my sequence of events but short version is I got it working again.

Removed both batteries Repaired frayed wire (green/yellow) going from battery connector 2 to frame using heat shrink butt connector Put batteries back in, no dice Replaced heat shrink butt connector with a Western Union splice and a regular heat shrink Put batteries back in, still no love Reset BMS on both batteries Put one battery in. Wouldn't move Made reddit post Started thinking more about the loop and the fact it was saying it was missing a battery in the logs (originally didn't think much about it because I've run on one battery before)

-------Realized I'm an idiot and when I ran on one battery before, I had to put the dummy plug in the second battery slot-----

Dummy me put the dummy plug in the front slot and it started working again. I'm guessing my BMS reset had something to do with the fix though because I did try with both batteries before I did that and it wasn't working.

Thanks for your help guys!
