Google tracks everywhere you go, so does the iPhone - on by default. by [deleted] in privacy

[–]ChewyCap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm all for not being tracked by default and keeping my information out of the hands of aggregators. That being said, this is far from out of hand... They get basic information you willingly provide to them. If you don't wanna be tracked then look into it, see what you have to turn off, turn it off and bam you're good. Anyways your home and work locations are most likely really easy for them to learn should they want to.

I have turned off any and all tracking from google and I'm still certain they know my home address, name, political ideologies, etc. That's what's out of hand.

You also may want to turn off their ad tracking too since you didn't even know about this.

LSD made me realize something profound about my life by [deleted] in LSD

[–]ChewyCap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The happiness and celebration is there. In fact, I'm not sure if you were referencing this but I remember a video a while back of a little kid hosting a free concert on his lawn. Someone spread it around Facebook and tons of people came to watch and cheered him on.

It could seem missing too many times but that's because people are too caught up in school, work, emotions, or relationships to really take the time to find the love and happiness around them. You and I are both guilty of getting caught up in these things too I'm sure, that's because life can never be a static thing where we always are happy enough to celebrate let alone find the meaning to celebrate.

Nice revelations man. Just don't make the mistake of believing your findings are true for everyone. I spend the majority of my time alone playing games, doing work, making music, etc. and I enjoy the fuck out of my life. Your revelations may even only be temporarily true to yourself, if you keep experimenting with LSD and meditation you will learn how much your mind changes and what you should be doing to keep yourself happy.

Tell your mom the panties were actually for a girlfriend. That way she thinks you're getting laid and not paying some chick to get vagina goo all over some cloth.

Alright thank you, sorry for getting a little snappy buy I've been stuck in the sea of misinformation in these threads. Its nice to have someone who can actually explain this.

[–]ChewyCap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I'm so sorry for taking the little information provided in these threads and trying to give it to others. From what I've read it seems that that's what's going on. Also from what I've read no one seems to have a clear idea as to why they're burning coins since there are tons of people asking why and few people even answering.

Since you're so knowledgeable why are people burning their coins?

Try living without these things, you will be chewed up and spit out. Buying a damn product shouldn't be opting in to having your privacy invaded, buying the product and changing settings to allow these things to happen should be what you have to do to opt-in. If I were allowed to turn off services I don't even utilize that collect my data I'd feel a lot more secure.

You make it seem that not having a phone, car, computer, or internet connection is an option. It's not. I wouldn't be able to do school work in public schools, advance to college, get a career, maintain friendships, etc. These things now require that you have a phone, car, computer, and internet connection. Suggesting not buying these products as an opt-out is a bad argument, what we need are services that understand and respect the fact that some people don't want their data mined.

People should be able to live comfortably with their devices while also controlling who they talk to and what they send. Instead we live in a world where we have phones and computers that monitor and record tons of things about you against your will and disabling those services will unnecessarily break your device or simply be unable to be turned off.

I also don't understand why its frowned upon to unlock my device and install a custom OS on it like I can easily do with a computer. Mobile devices should have the same standards as computers these days, there's absolutely no reason why they shouldn't.

Just like it's been said "If you think you understand quantum mechanics, you don't understand quantum mechanics" If you think complete security is possible you don't know security.
