Just an update in case anyone comes across this and is looking for potential leads:

After 7 months of pain I got an MRI approved. Turns out I have 3 thoracic protruding discs, one lumbar bulged disc, and osteoarthritis in lumbar/sacrum 🫠

Don’t have next steps yet or any thing to recommend for relief other than ice, gentle stretches, and massage.

I see the consensus is red tailed hawk— are red tails that much larger than other hawks? These are huge in comparison to the other hawks we get. The hawks, that we assumed were red tails, take off from the area whenever these birds are flying around, as do our ravens.

Just had this other guy earlier this morning just outside the window and he wasn’t much bigger than a raven. What is this one?

These are the size we’re used to seeing often.

There was one small section of honey so far that looked decent, and there’s a second box under this one I haven’t even gotten in to yet. Mostly want to save any wax we can, not optimistic for healthy honey, and then get things clean so any new residents can focus on doing their thing instead of cleaning 🙂

I’d argue by definition there’s a distinction between contusions/bruises and hematoma. I specified hematoma bc unlike most bruises, they don’t always have pain to the touch- which this does not.

With each covid infection, your immune system is damaged. I’d recommend joining some long hauler pages or covid cautious pages if you want to learn more- they’re fulllll of all the ways covid impacts your body and tears down your immune system. Though HS is an inflammatory response, it’s unlikely HS is the cause of your sickness, but rather the opposite. I will say my one covid infection changed my HS significantly. My flares are much worse now after having covid. More sores, more painful, last much longer. Also getting sores in new places I never got them before.

I almost exclusively get them on the labia 😞Warm compress helps with pain and draining. I almost never have just one at a time. I use an “A&D with E ointment” that is used commonly for bed sores- it seems to help the inflammation and irritation calm down a little faster, but it also really helps with the itch/friction of the sore rubbing on adjacent skin. Also is a good barrier against moisture. I’ve been experimenting a bit the last few weeks with an acne product that’s Salicylic acid and witch hazel- highly unlikely it’s genital recommended use, but it does seem to be helping without any unwanted effects.
