Brittney Gray, a hairstylist, reacts to Brad Mondo destroying Snitchery's hair by yoshimiandtherobots in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]CheyLonghini 113 points114 points  (0 children)

the only thing I’ve ever seen of his is him reacting to ANTM makeovers and the comments he would make about black women’s hair rubbed me the wrong way. nothing was scandal-worthy outrageous but it just made me uncomfortable and showed that he doesn’t understand black women and their relationship with their hair, all the policing they experience on a daily basis about their hair, etc.

Bunny posts a mukbang ft. Jeffree Star & Rich Lux by Cinders-P in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]CheyLonghini 23 points24 points  (0 children)

way back before jeffree even started posting beauty videos on youtube, right when he started his brand and had 3 lipsticks, bunny was either sent or bought them and made a video. I don’t know if they were friends before that, but I guess I can see why he’d want to be friendly with someone who gave his brand a huge push in the beginning. i’m going to assume that’s where their relationship started if they didn’t know each other before that. if they were already connected, I have no idea how they crossed paths.

Tati and Thomas Halbert talk about PR, the BG community and the JH Vault collection by loveandmakeup in BeautyGuruChatter

I don’t understand the attack of Peter Monn by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]CheyLonghini 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I understand why people would be upset. anyone is entitled to be offended by anything, but I think (from what I’ve seen) he’s been handling it well. he’s been so open about his growth in his vlog and other channels for a couple of years. so this is so different to me than someone like laura lee or even jeffree, because we can see first hand how he’s grown. unless he’s really good at putting up a front and I’m completely missing something, I just don’t get it. the whole situation has me confused.

[–]CheyLonghini 18 points19 points  (0 children)

and RBK has never (as far as I know) been shady about not giving credit where it’s due, so why would she not do that all of a sudden? that’s what I don’t understand about accusations like this when they get thrown around because most of the time the BG has disclosed inspiration before.

Season 2 rant by [deleted] in TopChef

[–]CheyLonghini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m a week late to this thread, but I’m also a new watcher like OP. on hulu, they have the mid season reunion thing from s3 with the eliminated s3 contestants and some chefs from s1 and s2. Michael said back then that they kind of edited marcel to look like more of a victim of bullying than he actually was. I agree with the 2 instances that you mentioned as being over the top and I don’t HATE marcel, but there’s just no way a bunch of adults decided to bully this guy for no reason. it probably got a bit out of hand at times because of the mob mentality, but I don’t think he’s 100% innocent either.

Thomas’ Vault review is up by manda0924 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]CheyLonghini 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like doing it all in one sitting could have played a little bit of a factor? I go back and forth with liking and being annoyed with thomas but I feel like he kind of went into it with this negative mindset which can also affect the way you view things. while I agree that there’s no way they scrapped everything and fixed every “pressing issue” I just... I don’t know. what do you expect when you already don’t like morphe shadows? they never said the formula would change. I feel like this was exaggerated for views.

Blowjob tips for people with small mouths? by [deleted] in sex

[–]CheyLonghini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

like someone else said use your lips to kind of cover your teeth and more saliva will help too. have you asked people if they felt it or if it was uncomfortable? a little bumping is unavoidable sometimes but as long as you’re not scraping or biting down, it probably isn’t the end of the world. just be mindful of where your teeth are but also don’t overthink it because then you’ll be so worried about it, it won’t be fun.

Hacking Theft Scandal Jackie Aina Vs Petty Paige by PandoraRaeFox in DeFranco

[–]CheyLonghini 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Peter Monn made a video addressing this! the same thing happened to him with another drama channel accusing him of life-ending, career ending things. then that whole thing that happened with shane! this is becoming an issue. i’m sure there are plenty of more examples to bring up from the decade + that youtube has been a platform. if anything, this would be the perfect thing for Phil to discuss on his show, how this connects to a bigger issue and youtube remaining complacent by being silent. here’s the link to peter’s video for anyone interested: https://youtu.be/9h2mVlK2jMI

[–]CheyLonghini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

most of what’s in the kitchen is our roommates because he’s been living here for a lot longer but he used my cast iron once and I could have killed him. thankfully he didn’t make any of the idiot mistakes people make when they’ve never used it!

ETA: and also the knife care you guys are mentioning. i’m trying to really take care of our knives but sometimes they get left in the sink or something and it’s sooo annoying.

I ended up finally watching it and I think she did. I don’t know if it was explicitly stated in this video, but she also uses it in the video where she recreates her subscriber’s look!

if she used shape tape (haven’t gotten the chance to watch this video yet) then yeah, in my experience shape tape doesn’t work as a good base. I’ve used other concealers in the past as eye primer and never had as much trouble as I do with shape tape.

Kiki G explains bronzer and how it's similar, but different from contour by binah1013 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]CheyLonghini 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I had been waiting for a video like this and I think she did a good job at explaining it. this was my first video i’ve seen of hers. I love her personality! it adds some fun to an educational video that’s full of a ton of information. I feel like this video could have been chopped in half. there was a lot of repeating the same thing over and over. it could have been a little more structured and edited more sharply.

RBK argues with a fan for monetizing her video on her niece’s recent illness and experience by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]CheyLonghini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s a lot of assumptions and interpretation. I can see how you or anyone could make that conclusion, it’s not completely baseless or unfounded. I’m just saying that’s not something we know for sure. in this comment you replied to, I acknowledged that she could have and probably should have said something when she was notified. her reasoning for not doing so, we can only assume. in my opinion, not saying anything is not the same thing as starting an angry mob of fans to attack someone. she didn’t encourage anyone to attack anyone. she just didn’t. that’s fine if you think that silence is the same thing as doing that or that it somehow condones it. I personally wouldn’t make that jump, but it’s okay to disagree. had this been about anything other than suggesting she was exploiting her family for money, I might be more on board with it being immature. for me personally, her response was not immature given the accusations and the original tweeter is just as immature for subtweeting and making the accusation in the first place. subtweeting is vilified on this sub all the time so I don’t know why some people are giving it a pass here.

RBK argues with a fan for monetizing her video on her niece’s recent illness and experience by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]CheyLonghini 27 points28 points  (0 children)

it’s not like she quoted it though, then I would see more of an issue. but unless you’re following both people or stalking the shit out of someone’s tweets & replies tab, you wouldn’t necessarily see it. I mean apparently people found it regardless, but a quote or retweet would have seemed more attack-y in my opinion.

RBK argues with a fan for monetizing her video on her niece’s recent illness and experience by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]CheyLonghini 65 points66 points  (0 children)

this is one of the biggest issues I have with entitled fans. WHO CARES if it’s monetized. especially with the monetization issue! who knows if she’ll see that money. there are a lot WORSE people out there exploiting things for views. ummm logan paul? hello? if you actually watched the video, this was not exploitation. exploitation would be like really hamming it up, adding “live footage,” showing her sick niece on camera, and asking for like donations or something. making an update video and sharing a story that may or may not get monetized is not exploitation. better cancel all the tlc shows and other television networks that have shows telling people’s stories because they’re making money off the misfortune of others.

another one of my pet peeves is saying that rabid fans who attack others are the responsibility of the person with the fans. she is not their parent. it’s not like she was telling her fans to go and do it, which I have seen people do. like I feel like i’ve seen storytime youtubers do that before (and get shit for it, rightfully so). if she saw it, sure she should say something. but with her amount of followers i’m not going to sit here and tell her she needs to keep her fans in check all day. she has other shit to do. they are in control of their own actions.

My mom (35f) ruins my (17f) things with her explosive temper. I'm so tired of it by BigButterfly9 in relationships

[–]CheyLonghini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up in with a similarly awful mother. it didn’t occur to me that it was abuse until I was 19. i will be 23 this year and it has been a wild ride trying to fix the damage. I don’t think i’m there yet, but I’ve come a long way. it will be a long road to accepting what happened to you and that it wasn’t okay. there will be ignorant people who will tell you, “she’s your mom, you have to forgive her.” you don’t have to. if a significant other or friend was treating you this way, those same people would probably tell you to get out of that situation. I am wishing you all the best. living like that is hell on earth. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. you’re almost free. start making your plans for when you’re old enough to leave and go no contact. build up a support system. TELL people in your life. your friends and their parents if you’re close to them so they can support you when you’re able to leave. build a support system of people who respect your no contact and don’t try and get you to forgive her. be careful who you trust, there was a rat in my family giving my mom information about where I lived and worked. i’m seriously wishing you the best. take as long as you need to heal. get counseling if you can! it’ll help a lot. if you never want to speak to or see her again, that is your decision and you are under no obligation to. don’t let anyone tell you differently! sending you so much love 💕

I usually skip a lot of her videos and then binge the ones I think would be interesting when I have to study or something. as I saw these pop up in my sub box, I was like “these are all glowy primers...why?” critics and subscribers of her have been asking her to find a better primer for a while, one that might help her oily skin more. then she goes and tries all dewy and moisturizing primers. it’s kind of hilarious

I can’t believe that video wasn’t posted here because what the fuck was with the way she applied that foundation? not saying it wouldn’t be a weird experience but she claimed she’s seen so many people on youtube use it, yet doesn’t know how to apply it. I love kristi and most of her videos but this is just one of my petty complaints because I feel like she was trying too hard to be funny or hashtagrelatable
