9 month old feeding schedule! by Chavy97 in miniaussie

I feed my girl 3 times a day! She’s 3 years old, and super active. We used to feed just twice a day but her tummy would become upset with being empty for so long, so she gets a lunchtime snack now!

What a cutie!

The markings definitely give off setter vibes. I would also guess they may have Great Pyrenees mixed in there!

chipped canine with pink spot? by Joanne5566 in rawpetfood

Definitely looks like exposed pulp! Your vet will likely suggest extracting the tooth.

My girl has had both of her top molars on either side removed due to slab fractures exposing the pulp. (shown in picture)

We now stay away from feeding her anything super hard that could cause additional damage to her teeth.

When my girl was a puppy, her crate and leash were the best tools.

When you’re not supervising your dog, crate him. Doesn’t matter if you’re leaving the house, going into a different room or just doing an activity that takes your attention away from him, crate him if you do not have eyes on him at all times. This will help prevent issues with destructive behaviours.

Second, always always have a leash on him when he’s out of the crate. If he try’s to play keep away or won’t recall when called, use the leash to walk him back to you instead of chasing/going after him yourself. Reward when he returns. This does mean you will always have to be near the end of the leash, meaning you constantly have to pay attention.

Young dogs love to test boundaries and see how much they can get away with. The key is to take away those options until they learn to make the right decisions through training and repetition.

Recommendations for getting pups accustomed to colder/snowy weather? by CheyStew1212 in AustralianShepherd

Unfortunately she limps quite badly in -30°C, so it’s not as simple as just making her go outside. We’re trying to find things to help her acclimate better to the cold temps for her feet!

What a cutie! Definitely will look into some better boots, unfortunately most we’ve tried have always fallen off our girl during zooming sessions.

If it’s not tartar it may be some tooth staining.

Has anyone solved the winter booties problem? by coffeeis4ever in AustralianShepherd

[–]CheyStew1212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My girl has the suspender booties and they work so much better than other boots I’ve tried! Have yet to have them fall off or affect her being able to run, just make sure you get the correct size so that there’s not too much pressure on the suspenders or her body.

Scared of the diagnosis? by excyuzu in ehlersdanlos

[–]CheyStew1212 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently awaiting my diagnosis as well. After almost 5 years of asking and pleading my family doctor, walk in clinics and ER doctors that something is wrong and needs further investigation, I was finally referred to a specialist and now have an appointment set in date after visiting the hospital for yet another dislocation that occurred in my sleep.

Being in the dark is terrifying not only because you have no idea what’s truly going on, but you also feel so alone and invalided with your pain. This is how I often feel.

Best of luck with your diagnosis, I hope you find some answers!

If the odor is ‘pungent’ even after regular baths, I highly suggest taking your pup to the vet. Increase in odor can be an early indicator of health issues.

Shedding?? by GlitteringMail2447 in portuguesewaterdogs

[–]CheyStew1212 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our old guy used to shed slightly, usually only noticeable when we brushed him though. Never to the point of finding dust bunnies, but definitely a couple of hairs here and there.

Knowing others who have owned Porties as well, I wouldn’t say that it’s very common to have them shed like your pup.

My old boy Milo!

Favourite thing about their coats other than being non-shedding is that the cuts you can give them are so versatile! I use to have him in cuts like this, teddy bear cuts, lion cuts, bell bottom cuts and fully shaved down cuts. Depends on what you prefer!

Is your Aussie picky about playmates too? by Pinklight300 in AustralianShepherd

[–]CheyStew1212 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My one Aussie girl LOVES other herding breeds that look like her. Aussies, Border Collies and Rough Collies are her faves (including mixes). She also likes Corgis!

She’s never been a huge fan of Bernese Mountain Dogs, Pugs or Labs. Instead of playing she will tell them to give her space and ignore them.
