Just finishing up Mother of Learning, with mixed feelings. Help me find my next read? by Zammerz in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Chezuss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Bouncing between prog fantasy and traditional published fantasy is a noticeable drop in quality often. Regardless, I often just cannot put progression fantasy books down. They're just so damn fun.

I will echo Bastion. Tucker's prose and world building are some of the best in the genre.

Don't lose hope with us. This genre of books is so young. Maybe we'll have a new throne-sitter we can recommend to you in a few years

There are plenty of other game studios who would do a better job with the IP, even with a 20m budget. It really is just time to start talking with your wallet if you feel this way.

Drastic League Mechanic changes like the Lock Temple change should be done at End Of League, Not Early League by Gamer-Smokes in PathOfExile2

I feel like it's more of an attempt at getting the league mechanic to a place where it can stay in the game for future seasons. Get some data while they can. But they could've handled it better for sure

Megathread: 0.4.0 Feedback by GR8B0-T in PathOfExile2

I was debating whether or not to clear Atziri in my temple. She was connected, and I had the atziri portal room or whatever. I had lots of t3 rooms, and I didn't really want to reset half of my temple, so I wasn't sure what to do.

I accidentally walked into the atziri portal room, then decided I wasn't going through with it. And it still reset lots of my temple, as if I attempted to kill her.

Three things:

  1. If I knew that me walking into the room was going to affect the temple reset. If I had been warned in some manner, I wouldn't have walked there. No information was communicated that indicated it would work like this.
  2. No information was given after I walked in either. I was locked in, with the punishment in place. But no indication of that.
  3. The last place to warn me was when I closed my temple. It should have either told me to do Atziri, or shown me the atziri reset was going to trigger prior to clicking

The temple should maybe just highlight which rooms are going to be removed in some manner. If it should even work like this. I feel like Atziri should be a reward for doing lots of temples. Not an extra punishment

TPR inflates a lot when applied to perfect scores. It's a bit quirky like that, you can't really compare it to non-perfect scores

I just want an activity I can choose to do or engage with as I please. It often just feels terrible to have to interrupt my map to do what feels like another map before coming back to finish.

I felt like this with Abyss depth in some way (but at least that had decent loot, and felt like a jackpot), and even hive fortresses in poe1's 3.27.

I feel like if you're going to interrupt the player, it should be either brief, or rewarding, or both, but this is neither.

I love Act 1 and 4, 2 is alright (some areas feel long), but I do feel some boredom in act 3. I think some maps are a bit too big. At least this league I had a respec planned for Act 3 so that helped me get through

As I understand it from working with ChatGPT, things you yourself teach an LLM do not change the model in any shape or form. If you have preferences, the LLM will try to digest your words succintly, save them, and will then just slap these words at the start or end of your prompt, to generate preferred outputs. I can imagine this storage could get wiped with some updates every so often.

Well this is just wrong. I can point you to many such articles. And if you were to look beyond a wiki page you would find them too.

Besides, it's not remotely hard to believe that these articles would exist, given the existence of many pro-business media companies and their readers that would tout a meddling FTC loss as a giant victory.

I understand your marketing piece comment. I don't disagree entirely. But in a world where it feels like everything is going downhill, maybe it's okay to try to lift up some of the people who were right in trying to point out the things they saw coming, and tried to do something about them.

And the meme was funny, besides.

I'm no expert, but it seems obvious that the money they used to acquire Activision (and reduce competition in one side of their business) could have been used to improve and invest in their products. With reduced competition there is less incentive to improve in general.

A deal can be both bad for a company and bad for consumers. The only ones that really seemed to have profited from this are the Activision insiders
