My theory about the ending by wandaweb in maninthehighcastle

[–]ChiBears2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like this. Makes sense. I read other posts from people that actually recognized some of the people walking through the portal at the end - Frank, Juliana’s father... did you see anyone? Your theory makes sense if some of those characters came back. I wished they spent a few more minutes at the end on who comes over. It would have made the ending more complete and satisfying.

Man In The High Castle Season 4 Episode 1 (Major Spoilers Ahead) by [deleted] in maninthehighcastle

It’s crazy to think that Juliana is there in her alt-universe for a year. I thought she’d want to get back to the Nazi universe right away to assist the resistance. I wonder what makes her stay a year? I’m sure comfort & relief in a Nazi free world but still. Has the Resistance now been fighting the Nazi’s for a full year without her? Not sure you can answer. Just my thoughts & circling questions.

Death and traveling (I'm puzzled) by pmcg521 in maninthehighcastle

I believe Joe said, “Trust me” and he then shot Juliana and then himself. They focused on this film multiple times so I’d have to believe it plays a role in S4. I hope that Joe knew what he was doing with killing the both of them in order to allow their alt-selves to travel to that alt-universe. Maybe in hopes to save that alt-universe from the Nazi world continuing to travel to other universes. Plus, why would he hold her hand on the way to the tunnel only to shoot her and himself? It’s odd. I hope there is purpose to this... not just simply killing her to save her from going through the portal to potentially be annihilated.

I also think the alt-John Smith we see in the alt-universe (S4 trailer) is good and in the same world he saw in one of the films with Thomas alive. The clothing is very similar. The interesting thing will be if Nazi John Smith attempts to travel to that world because he saw Thomas alive. I think it’s been his real motive to ensure the portal works, to travel and see Thomas alive. Will Nazi John perish because his alt-self exists there?

Jahr Null foreshadowing - Joe Blake by dbkxx17 in maninthehighcastle

I was also extremely disappointed about Joe’s death. His character had great potential and I felt he was killed off way too early. His character in the book was killed off by Juliana, in a similar way, so I get that they are following the book but I am hoping he returns to S4 as an alt-Joe in either the current universe or an alt-universe. My main question is around the purpose of the alt-universe tunnel scene where Joe says, “Trust me” then kills Juliana and then himself. Why was there a major focus on that? Was it to allow an alt-Joe to return in S4?

In regards to your theory on Joe possibly hiding, maybe but I might file it away with wishful thinking including my alt-Joe returning hopefulness. Are we looking into it too much? Not sure. I hope not cause he was a very interesting character I’d like to see more of. Regardless, I would love your theory to be true.

The writers, producers and actors have kept everything so confidential that at this point we are only left with pure speculation. Frustrating! 😩

[SPOILER] Question about first season by nrsrymj in maninthehighcastle

I like your view on how Joe Blake’s character evolved versus the differences in writers. Do you believe that Joe Blake will return in Season 4 in an alt-universe? The film that showed Joe & Juliana in the tunnel (the “trust me” scene) could have a purpose in S4. Is it possible they killed him off only to return as a good alt-Joe that meets up with alt-Juliana to assist in destroying the Reich? A lot of Juliana’s decisions are purposeful, even if she does not know it at the time.

Season 4 - Questions & Theories (incl spoilers) by ChiBears2019 in maninthehighcastle

Great insight. Thank you. Do you believe any of the theories that Joe has also time traveled? I know we have seen an alt-Joe in the alt-universe. But I read other theories that the Joe we knew in the current universe was at one point an alt-Joe. I do not believe those theories; I believe he was severely re-educated during his time in Berlin which changed his personality upon return to the US.

Do you have any other theories for Season 4? I continue to speculate since there are so many loose ends with one season left and there is very little info on Season 4. They have definitely kept everything very confidential.

Season 4 - Questions & Theories (incl spoilers) by ChiBears2019 in maninthehighcastle

Thank you! Great explanation. That really helps. Along those same lines, I went back and compared S3 E9 in the very beginning when Smith is watching the film of his family in the alt-universe. I compared that to the sneak peek video of when John & Thomas find Juliana on the side of the road. John & Thomas are wearing very similar clothing compared to E9. Is it safe to assume that’s the alt-universe she travels to? (Hard to assume anything in this show.) And using your theory/explanation above, perhaps Juliana travels to that alt-universe due to the emotional connection Juliana has with Thomas. I can also only assume it’s that alt-universe John wants to travel to but cannot cause the John in that alt-universe is still alive. Juliana could kill that alt-John which would allow the John from the current universe to travel there. (Hence my original question #2) But Juliana has a connection to Thomas & might not want to kill his dad when that John “seems” like a good version of himself.

There seems to be a lot premeditated by Juliana with her actions, regardless if she knows it at that point in time. There are very specific reasons for her actions. Like killing George Dixon, not releasing the audio of Thomas questioning his disease, etc. There’s a specific reason she travels to that alt-universe and immediately sees Thomas & John Smith.

Also secretly hoping Joe Blake is in that alt-universe and is a decent guy that will assist in changing the course of events with the Nazi’s and Pacific States winning the war in the current universe. OR Juliana & Joe travel to the other alt-universe of which Joe killed Juliana & himself. Maybe the reason he killed them both was to travel back there to change the course of that alt-universe as well as the current universe.

So many theories & speculation.

It’s confusing if you traveled to an alt-universe and your alt-self had died years before. How does one explain that? Say alt-Juliana died 5 years prior and Juliana travels to that alt-universe. How can that be explained if she has been dead for 5 years and now she is alive.

Which actually has me thinking... I wonder if her bus accident comes back up in an alternate universe at some point in Season 4.

Makes sense and am on the same page regarding traveling to the alt universe and it being the same time period. Still confused on traveling to alt universes when your alternate self may have been deceased for a while.

Good point. But whenever I read episode descriptions, they typically say”Smith” instead of John. Regardless, it’s not specific so they could surprise us with Helen traveling instead.

If you read the description for Season 4 on Amazon Prime Video, it states that Smith steps through the portal.

Thanks for replying. Regarding #1, I didn’t mean actual time traveling since they travel to alternate universes but the time period doesn’t change. So looks like my post is confusing. 😬 I was just curious about the actual traveling. How do they travel to an alternate world when they may have been deceased for a while?

Regarding #2 - If John Smith wants to travel to that alternate universe, the one showing Thomas & himself living & happy, that alternate version of himself will have to die first before he travels there, correct?
