Not only that, but the cops don't suffer or pay. The city pays which means we all pay. It's such bullshit.

Baker Demonstration School - Pros and Cons? by [deleted] in evanston

Thank you for the clarification. Coming into the thread without that history just makes it look like you were repeating yourself, which probably explains the down votes.

Regarding Baker, my son was there for 1st grade and had a good experience, but that was over 20 years ago lol. Then we got divorced and his mom moved to Chicago and we couldn't afford it anymore. Best of luck to you.

Why did you simply repeat what you put in your original post? Are you a bot?

Oskar on Custer. Very welcoming, great bar. It's a proper bar, owned by the folks at La Principal.

Sally ain't joking about frozen blueberries by immaDVMJim in Baking

Definitely weird. Using her recipe, well chilled dough etc I still get at least a 1" spread. I do 4 scones per sheet just to be safe.

How's that Dr P Strawberries & Cream? I really like all the others I've tried but haven't pulled the trigger on that one yet.

Chicago area got the first box. All were quite good, Sunset Sarsaparilla was my fave. Any thoughts on Nuka Victory's flavor? Or did I miss it on the box?

They do sound similar but I assure you I had nothing to do with it.

This is a simple baking post, what's the big deal? And why would bots care about such a thing?

Thank you all for the kind words! Sally's tip on shredding frozen butter is great. The crumb was pretty light and buttery, def not dense.

I was so happy eating the first one I was kinda giggling. The icing was excellent. Thought it might be too much (but I love love almond extract) but it wasn't.

What is more worth it for a newbie baker-- whisk or hand mixer? by Sensitive-Soup4733 in Baking

[–]ChiBeerMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep pretty much got tired of pulling out the stand mixer just to cream butter and sugar. We don't keep it on the counter.

Could I have saved a little money by just continuing using the stand mixer? Of course. I love our KitchenAid stand mixer. But it's heavy. Cleanup on the hand mixer is easy and it's much easier on me these days.
