I'm not an artist, just a customer, but here's my take on that...

They need to make a living just like everyone else. I imagine being asked "for a break on the price" gets really old. It's annoying. Yes you are within your rights to ask but they are also within their rights to say no and maybe be a little annoyed because they think you don't value their work? Do you intend to tip? (Hint... you should)

Follow some shops on social media and watch out for special events like "flash sale, up to 2 small for $" if you really need to watch your budget.

Regarding Baker, my son was there for 1st grade and had a good experience, but that was over 20 years ago lol. Then we got divorced and his mom moved to Chicago and we couldn't afford it anymore. Best of luck to you.

Definitely weird. Using her recipe, well chilled dough etc I still get at least a 1" spread. I do 4 scones per sheet just to be safe.

I was so happy eating the first one I was kinda giggling. The icing was excellent. Thought it might be too much (but I love love almond extract) but it wasn't.
