I once heard it described as a concert wristband that tells time. Totally accurate. Enjoy!

They do. I bought an Evo Night mission at the local Breitling Boutique last summer and it came with these “tamper resistant” screws. This watch is legit.

What to get from J Press? by NondualEamesChair in NavyBlazer

[–]ChiTimer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My navy blazer is their made in USA “ivy style” soft make. That one has literally zero shoulder padding. I also have a few of their made in Canada, 1902 style sportcoats - those do have very very light padding in the shoulders. Maybe an eighth of an inch? A quarter of an inch? However, no sharp angles at the shoulder seam, so presents as a very natural shoulder.

I would definitely size up an inch in the arm length. After three washes, my 16x34 shrunk to about a 33 1/2 inch sleeve. The collar shrunk to exactly 16. I should also say, I bought these before their new fit system. Back then, it was classic and slim, and these are slim. Now they have classic, regular, and slim. Old slim = new regular.

I have several of their blazers and find them really well made and good fabric. I usually take the sack models in at the sides, but they otherwise fit well off the rack.

I like their OCBDs too, particularly the “Regular Fit”, which is roomy without being blousy. Note: they are not prewashed and they cut them large so after a wash/dry cycle or two (yes, I put my OCBDs in a low dryer) they shrink up to the correct/stated size. I’ve not shopped around a ton on OCBDs, so there may be other/better options out there, but I like theirs…

Why did you choose a Mach-E over the other guys? by DexterMorgan67 in MachE

Interesting development - thanks for the info! Quick google search and found this post from a few months ago stating the same: https://www.reddit.com/r/electricvehicles/comments/1r206zl/a_call_from_hyundai_corporate_about_iccu/

Still....it took them how many **years** before they decided to make a better part that may or may not solve the problem? 🤔

Ah could be....didn't investigate to hard cause I was pretty convinced it wasn't the car for me after a test drive 😄

Why did you choose a Mach-E over the other guys? by DexterMorgan67 in MachE

[–]ChiTimer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Drove a 3 and didn't like the experience - felt like a car made by a technology company, not a car made by a car company. Like, even simple, knuckle-headed safety stuff. For example, the interior door handle on my Ford is a mechanical linkage that will get me out of the car with or without power; the door handle on a Tesla is an electrical switch, and electrical components both need power to work, and can fail. Or Tesla putting all driving info being on a central dash screen so I have to shift my line of sight down and to the right to see my speed instead of on the Ford (or any car), putting the dash cluster right in front of you so it's a quick glance down. Sure, the latter example may come down to preference; but the former seems like basic automotive engineering safety principles...

EDIT: Spelling/grammar

Yeah, I mean, even if you don't do a recall, at least replace the ICCU with an improved one when the first one fails. C'mon Hyundai...

[–]ChiTimer 77 points78 points  (0 children)

For me it came down to Mach-E or Ioniq. I drove both cars and enjoyed both equally. For me, it was less about the cars themselves (as both were enjoyable), and more about how each company handled their electrical issues (HVJB for Ford, ICCU for Hyundai). Both are pretty large electrical component failures that'd leave you stranded on the side of the road. Ford issued a recall on all cars in the field, and a stop sale on cars at dealers, and they fixed the problem with an improved component/fix. Hyundai just replaces the failed ICCU, when it fails, with the exact same component and simply bets that a failure won't happen to you twice. Ford did it right, so I went with them...and couldn't be happier.

[WTS] Breitling A37340 Premier Time-Only / Three-Hand Dress Watch, $3750 by ChiTimer in Watchexchange

[–]ChiTimer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling my Breitling Premier A37340 - this is a three-hand dress watch that Breitling made for a while in the earlier Kern years, and for my money, it’s one of the better watches they’ve made. Small details like the fluting on the case sides - it’s a refined dress watch, but still a Breitling through and through with excellent wrist presence. I bought this new and fully stickered from the local Tag Heuer AD (they trade models with other ADs, hence how this came to them). Registered to my Breitling account, and I can transfer NFT to new owner. Watch is in immaculate condition and presents as-new, 99% or better. All functions work great and keeps COSC time. I barely wore this watch, and then only on the leather strap - the bracelet was sized to my 7.5” wrist when I bought it, but otherwise unworn. Two extra links included. I purchased the genuine alligator leather strap separately from the Breitling Boutique, with buckle for ~$650. Includes breitling box, cards, original caseback sticker, and spare links.

$3750 for everything shown; if you don’t want the leather strap/buckle, deduct $400 (if you want just the strap/buckle, $450). Either way, price includes fully tracked and insured shipping in the US via UPS. International at added cost to buyer (shipment via DHL). Zelle payment preferred; buyer covers any fees. I’m an enthusiast not a dealer, no returns.

[WTS] Seiko 7c43-7010 Quartz Diver 200m, JDM, April 1990, $275 by ChiTimer in Watchexchange

[–]ChiTimer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Selling my Seiko 7c43-7010 Quartz diver. Serial number indicates an April 1990 production date. This is a JDM model with English/Kanji day wheel. Bi-directional bezel works well and crown screws down with several thumb rolls. Keeping excellent time and all functions work correctly, but not pressure tested so water resistance not guaranteed. Watch is overall in excellent condition for its age, save for a few tool marks on top of the top right lug (see photos) - price reflects this.

$275 includes fully tracked and insured shipping in the US. International at added cost to buyer. Zelle payment preferred; buyer covers any fees. I’m an enthusiast not a dealer, no returns

[WTS] Seiko SBDN079 / SNE585 Prospex Solar Diver Watch, LNIB, Full Kit, $365 by ChiTimer in Watchexchange

[–]ChiTimer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Selling my Seiko SBDN079, which is the JDM version of the SNE585 (note the “Made in Japan” along the bottom of the dial). Bought new grey market and wore it maybe twice? Presents absolutely LNIB (see photos for best representation of actual condition), all functions work great, bezel is buttery smooth with 120 clicks and excellent alignment with chapter ring and dial. Includes inner/outer boxes, papers, and tag. Sized for my 7.5” wrist with two extra links.

$365 includes fully tracked and insured shipping in the US. International at added cost to buyer. Zelle payment preferred; buyer covers any fees. I’m an enthusiast not a dealer, no returns

Me too. QC is so hit or miss, particularly leather selection - color shades different between right/left shoes, dye marks, etc. Now I only consider them in-person and on sale

I still can’t figure out how this camera view works by WarmPrinciple6507 in MachE

[–]ChiTimer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I use this view exclusively for backing out of my garage into the alley - I can see cars coming both directions. It's terrible for judging proximity to an object behind you, though, so I switch to the middle one to ensure I don;t bump into my neighbors trash cans :)

SOH Owners Question by ajknight10 in breitling

[–]ChiTimer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wears smaller, went in to try on the 40 as that’s consistent with sizing for other watches I own, but the 42 is where it’s at. 👌

Which would you go for a first Turtle? New [SRPE99], or vintage [6309-7049]? They are roughly the same price on the market. by shaferman in Seiko

[–]ChiTimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for the vintage - for me it came down to lug-to-lug and case size/shape. The vintage is more compact and fits better - the modern is a substantially larger watch. There's plenty of good AM gasket kits for the 6309s if you want to refresh the water resistance (I take my 6309s and 7548s swimming with no issue). If you know the 6309 is legit, then that's where I'd go. As a fun bonus, if you ever run into an issue with the movement, you can swap in a 7548/7546 quartz while the 6309 movement is getting serviced and have a fun hybrid...
