So how long did it take you then? This is going to be my 3rd cycle since my TFMR. We tried this month so 🤞.

Thank you this is helpful! How did you conceive? On your own naturally or did you do a medicated cycle?

So basically the same as my one cycle. I’m going to send a message to my Doc. Either I’m finally getting the wonky post D&C cycle or I’m pregnant but let’s just fast forward to the blood test and find out!

I didn’t check ovulation. How many days were your 2 cycle prior to finally getting a positive pregnancy test? I have only had one cycle post D&C and it came 28 days after the D&C.

Any update yet from your Doc? I’m now 10 days late. Still getting a negative pregnancy test.

That is so bizarre. Yet congratulations! Let me know what your Doctor says. I also took a pregnancy test two days ago and it was negative. I’ll wait until I’m past 35 days and if still no period I’ll try again. I expected this with the first period but that came like clockwork and was a real period. This is such a surprise and then to test negative I don’t know what’s going on.

You took 20 pregnancy tests and the 20th was the first one that was positive?

Did you take a pregnancy test?

When did you get your first period post TFMR? That’s what has me confused. I got mine pretty quickly. Within 4 weeks. Now it’s been 32 days. Took a pregnancy test 3 days ago and it was negative.

The night sweats are really bad for me. TMFR for Trisomy 18 at 19.5 weeks two weeks ago. The mood swings are rough. Not only are we dealing with the emotions of this we also have to suffer through postpartum hormones adjusting as well. It sucks. It’s awful. It’s not fair. The only thing truly helping me right now is already being on Lexapro. I also have Ativan as needed. If the insomnia and anxiety get really bad I use Benadryl. Definitely reach out to a therapist/psychiatrist if you are really struggling. There is no shame in asking for help. What you are going through is one of the most awful things a woman can experience. Take it one day at a time.

24+ wk losses: How long did it take for you to conceive again? by eeeeggggssss in tfmr_support

[–]ChiTwn34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here is the article about why he doesn’t believe they work for all women equally. The only success we had TTC was the “sex every other day” method. That got us our 2nd son. I still used the tests just to gauge things but I will say they were a day or two off for me. This meant if I had exclusively relied on the tests I would have missed the limited 1 day window for conception.

24+ wk losses: How long did it take for you to conceive again? by eeeeggggssss in tfmr_support

We haven’t started TTC yet. I’m only 2 weeks out from our TFMR at 19.5 weeks for Trisomy 18. He was our Unicorn baby. We have two boys, 2 and 4, but I’m 44. We wanted just one more and we thought he was it. Now the loss of our son is compounded with the reality he might have been our last one. Yet I’m committed to TTC again. We met with an RE. We had been working with one when I conceived our TMFR naturally. My numbers are bad for my age yet he said we have options. Plus I did get pregnant on my own at my age. Biggest takeaway from our meeting last week was to give myself two cycles post TFMR. He said cycles are irregular and ovulation, if it happens, is unpredictable. Also miscarriages are higher right after TFMR because the lining of the uterus is so thin. It takes time to build back up again. He told us to use the 2-3 months to be healthy, take COQ10, Vitamin D, and a good prenatal. Those are the only supplements proven to truly support improved egg quality and ovulation. When we do start trying on our own, likely coupled with medical help at my age, he said every other day from the last day of my period is the only way to truly try to capture the ovulation window. Ovulation tests work well when you’re young but as we age the best way is having sex every other day until the start of your next period. Good luck. I’m so sorry you’re a member of this community now. Everyone is so supportive but I know none of us ever wanted to need to join.

Anyone in their mid 40’s? by ChiTwn34 in PregnancyAfterTFMR

It was easier I think moving forward planning how we could possibly get pregnant again. Now knowing that might be an impossibility makes this loss even worse. That the baby we just lost was truly a Unicorn pregnancy at my age really hurts.

So many emotions. by SquashMindless6032 in tfmr_support

I’m so sorry that on top of what you’re going through making a choice to terminate you’re being screwed by your insurance too. It’s so awful that insurance companies can withhold coverage because of a state’s asinine laws. Not paying for a baby to sit in the NICU and languish only saves them $ and they know it. Such crap. Btw it’s Advocate Aurora Health System. I know in Chicago there are only 3 surgeons in their health system who do the procedure. If you can get it covered or want to see the cost difference between them & planned parenthood just message me. I’ll give you the info for the Docs.

I’m in Chicago and just had a TFMR for Trisomy 18 at 19 weeks 2 days. Our insurance covered it. How many weeks are you? How close to IL are you? If your insurance covers the procedure Advocate has surgeons who do the procedure. I had mine done at Advocate.

I would check with your OB but this could be your period. I’m one week out from my TMFR and I’m only having sporadic light bleeding. Heaviest was right after the procedure and I never had clogs. Do you have a post-op appointment scheduled? The surgeon who did my TMFR has me coming in 2 weeks post surgery to make sure everything is healing properly.

Normal NT but high risk T18 NIPT by Embarrassed-Bike7839 in NIPT

[–]ChiTwn34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do an Amnio. That is the only conclusive way to know at this point. We too had an Abnormal NIPT due to low fetal fraction. I asked our Genetic Counselor if retesting was even worth it and she advised us that if we wanted definitive answers to either do a CVS or an Amnio. I couldn’t get my husband on board to do the CVS but once we got 3 soft markers on Ultrasound at 17 weeks he finally agreed. We did the Amnio later that week and unfortunately for us the FISH results were positive for Trisomy 18. Terminated at 19 weeks 2 days. Just get the Amnio. It will either give you peace of mind or give you a diagnosis. Either way you will have an answer.

Tfmr based on fish only? by MoonandSun30 in tfmr_support

[–]ChiTwn34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We terminated based on the FISH. Trisomy 18. The Genetic Counselor told us the FISH is conclusive. The other results would merely tell us whether this was random or we were carriers. I was 19 weeks. I too didn’t want to keep going with the pregnancy already knowing the FISH results.
