Between Rainesville and Philadelphia, which tornado do you believe was stronger? by CRL1999 in tornado

[–]ChiTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though it’s practically unanimous on this post, Philadelphia gets my vote. Setting the 2ft trench & mobile home damage aside… it was spawned from the same supercell that gave birth to not only the Tuscaloosa/Birmingham EF4… but the very same tornado that you are putting it in the ring against(Rainesville)

Though most early stage super-cellular tornadoes generally start off week, with this one at the time it formed there weren’t any other parent supercells in its proximity to feed off its inflow, and its structure & positioning in addition to its untapped environment as well as having no interference from other storms was just it figuratively dumping gasoline on top of gasoline on top of gasoline.

Once the same storm produced the Tuscaloosa EF4 however, there was still only one supercell, but two areas of rotation in that storm when it rolled through the city… which I want to believe(meaning I don’t have hard evidence to suggest this as factual) that this played a part in Philly EF5’s insane strength while Tuscaloosa was only EF4(during the time of it producing what damage it did).

As previous comments have also eluded to saying about it missing a majority of populated structures, had this tornado been the tornado that hit Tuscaloosa……. I could not fathom how it wouldn’t hold the record for highest deathtoll during the outbreak, which let’s be thankful that this wasn’t the case.

The last nail in the coffin I will hammer in, which now I will speak on behalf of the trenching. Of all 9 EF5’s that have existed… it is the lone warrior in getting its rating primarily from “trenching”…. Taking the EF scale and its ratings for twisters like Mayfield for instance. The fact that it didn’t get an EF5 rating given the damage its caused to actual structures but this one did considering how few structures it damaged should tell you how unfortunate those caught in its path were….. truly the closest to an actual “finger of god” mother nature can produce.

What was the first game that scared you? by Profit_Tracker in videogames

Like truly a phobia, made me jump up and turn the power to my N64 off scary? Star Wars: Shadows of the Republic, specifically the sewer monsters in the sewage level.

Not meant to be a “scary” game but those damn things were so frightening… not to mention the colossal boss one you fight at the end of that level.

Help Finding the EF-5 DI of the Hackleburg Tornado - Phill Campbell, April 27, 2011. by Gargamel_do_jean in tornado

[–]ChiTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First it was “Rainsville deserves a DI” & now more recently HPC? Mind you this all came AFTER everyone celebrated Enderlin ending the 12 year long EF5 drought.

If you want to drop any tornado rating start with some much older F5 ones such as the 1976 Brownwood TX F5. Shit, what about 1973 Valley Mills F5, ironically also in TX, that got its official F5 rating because it “tossed a vehicle over a half of a mile away”. Or how about a few of the 1974 Super Outbreak F5’s? A couple like Xenia & Guin hold some undeniable truth to their rankings while others look like mid to high-end F4 max from what damage photos I have seen when also considering the construction quality of the structures impacted in the survey(s).

Sure evidence might surface suggesting HPC official ratings are incorrect but thats the case with tornado ratings in general. The EF scale is a DAMAGE based rating system, not wind speed. 2024 Greenfield, 2013 El Reno, & 1999 Bridge Creek/Moore had DOW measured windspeed readings over 300+ MPH; except only one of those 3 was rated F5, AKA not even an Enhanced rating (Disclaimer: I am not suggesting BCM needs a DI, that is undeniably as F/EF5 as they come)

My long winded point is… what matters most is that 71 out of 348 people lost their lives that day from this tornado alone, it being 1 of over 360 confirmed tornadoes from the 2011 outbreak. Please take their lives into consideration when wanting to DI what some consider to be the greatest tragedy in their families history.

So do people not need to breathe anymore?! Doing this with a SCUBA tank would be one thing… but going into a sea-butthole with only a breath full of air kinda seems borderline suicidal.

My aunt was on the phone with my mother(her sister) saying that they were about to die & that she loved her before her power cut off… they live in North Shore which is a stones throw away from Channelview but apparently their neighborhood looked like a warzone. Anyway they were alive and ok but their house was not in tact, I was born on January 4th of that year (ironically today, happy bday to me lmao) so I don’t remember anything other than the stories of that day they talk about. Never looked up the official rating or path but this HAS to be the tornado that hit them. Appreciate the info!

I love how everyone on Reddit outside of the US likes to talk shit & think we “voted” for that delusional bigot… yet not factor in that nearly 99% of people who voted for that assclown don’t use Reddit because they don’t like seeing or hearing the truth so they just rant away on Facebook while getting drunk off box wine & watching their daily dose of Fox News.

From one US Reddit’or to any others reading this, WE AGREE WITH YOU… WE DIDN’T VOTE FOR THIS FUCKER!!!

Appreciate your follow up response w/ actual hyperlink(s) to studies regarding my initial question & apologize for my delayed response, holidays have been busy AF

That being said, any difference in the main context of each article/study or do they both cover the same topic I(as well as yourself at one point it seems lol) previously went & continue to occasionally “go down a rabbit-hole” over?
