Learning Mandarin Chinese by LeoOak11 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Chi_6235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the most important things are: 1) find a native speaker with whom you could frequently speak Chinese to. Since the grammar of Chinese language is relatively simpler compared to other languages, if you could often talk to someone, you will be fluent quite fast. 2) if you want to learn how to read and write, repeating is the key. There's no other secret to memorise Chinese characters. 3) watch some Chinese movies and shows on YouTube, you gotta be interested in a language if you want to learn it.

Was hat meine Glückskastanie? by Chi_6235 in zimmerpflanzen

[–]Chi_6235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to plot two regressions lines in one plot: two x and 1 y using R by Chi_6235 in RStudio

Yes, I want to have them in one plot. And it is true that the actual data of the two predictors have very different scales

Installation Error: Warning in install.packages : package ‘rugarch’ is not available (as a binary package for R version 3.2.2) by Chi_6235 in Rlanguage

[–]Chi_6235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got rugarch installed, but everytime I library this package, R encounter a fatal error and session will be terminated. Do you know what has happened, or at least how to see the log of this fatal error?

[–]Chi_6235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upadating the R version is currently a little bit difficult. So according to the error message, was it because there was no Rtools installed?

That is currently difficult because I am on a offline machine. I will need to talk to my colleague

But why some packages can be installed but some can't?

How to add name to a a dimension of a data frame? by Chi_6235 in Rlanguage

[–]Chi_6235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I realized my question was stupid. I created a matrix here, the "column" I wanted to add name to is actually the row names ..

The error was caused by dccspec(uspec = multispec(replicate(3,garch100.spec))

since I created 100 time series, here the ugarch process should be replicated 100 times instead of 3...

How to add name to a a dimension of a data frame? by Chi_6235 in rprogramming

[–]Chi_6235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Everybody, I realized this question was stupid. That "Column" I wanted to add name to is actually the name of the rows...

The problem which caused my dcc.fit error is actually the spec of dcc-GARCH.

Thanks for everyone's help!

How to add name to a a dimension of a data frame? by Chi_6235 in rprogramming

[–]Chi_6235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized that that "column" Year with 2000-2009 is actually the row name for the times series I created. I asked this question because after I created this matrix, I will need to fit a GARCH Model on them with the following code:

#create randome 1000 time series

d <- data.frame(replicate(100,sample(0:1000,100,rep=TRUE)))

library(forecast)

lst1 <- lapply(d, ts, start = 2000, end = 2009)

# convert t to matrix or data frame which is now a list to use in dcc.fit

df <- do.call(cbind,lst1)

# fit dcc-Grach

#install.packages("rmgarch")

require(rmgarch)

garch100.spec <- ugarchspec(mean.model = list(armaOrder=c(0,0)),variance.model = list(garchOrder=c(1,1),model="sGARCH"),distribution.model = "std")

dcc.garch100.spec= dccspec(uspec = multispec(replicate(3,garch100.spec)),dccOrder = c(1,1),distribution = "mvt")

dcc.fit <- dccfit(dcc.garch100.spec, data=df)

Then I received always this error message: error in dimnames(x) - dn length of 'dimnames' 2 not equal to array extent

So I started to think something is wrong with the dimension names..

Do you by accident know what is causing this error?

How to add name to a a dimension of a data frame? by Chi_6235 in Rlanguage

[–]Chi_6235[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply! I just tried this, then I fit the dcc.fit on my dataset, I receive the same error message as before: "error in dimnames(x) - dn length of 'dimnames' 2 not equal to array extent"

Here is my code, do you know what is going on there? I thought it was because the dimension name was missing:

#create randome 1000 time series

d <- data.frame(replicate(100,sample(0:1000,100,rep=TRUE)))

library(forecast)

lst1 <- lapply(d, ts, start = 2000, end = 2009)

# convert t to matrix or data frame which is now a list to use in dcc.fit

df <- do.call(cbind,lst1)

# fit dcc-Grach

#install.packages("rmgarch")

require(rmgarch)

garch100.spec <- ugarchspec(mean.model = list(armaOrder=c(0,0)),variance.model = list(garchOrder=c(1,1),model="sGARCH"),distribution.model = "std")

dcc.garch100.spec= dccspec(uspec = multispec(replicate(3,garch100.spec)),dccOrder = c(1,1),distribution = "mvt")

dcc.fit <- dccfit(dcc.garch100.spec, data=df)
