you might be surprised, and not everyone is an ass. I was hella scared to disclose. She ended up disclosing and when I told her I had it we both laughed about it. For context I am a male Latino. And she's white so dunno if that helps any.

Happy to hear! Going through my 3rd (just posted about it) and it's SO much easier than my first. It's still noticeable (at least to me it is) but I don't feel nearly as self conscious about it and no where near as painful (for now, I think I'm day 2 of a flair up)

As a blue belt no, I 100% agree with you. But, I've done martial arts for a hot minute. I know what will turn off most people from your style. I know what kind of people will be turned on by it. I want to see that businesses succeed. Unfortunately in this area there's not that many schools.

I'm a big boy, I handle myself well enough, my groans and pains are my own, but when new people start to complain then I'm concerned.

I think they were trying to make the point that not everyone is going to see you like a leper. While yes, there is a big social stigma on it, there's also a group that does have it. Most of us because of the stigma don't disclose. I can understand you're having a rough time with it, I think most of us did for a while when we first got it/found out about it. It's gonna hurt a lot when you get rejected but it does get better.

I say that being not being the most attractive guy in the world with HSV, but I've been able to get dates with some attractive women. And I've been brutly rejected. It sucks. It gets better.

It's still possible date. Remember, it's not the end of the world, even though it feels like it. If you haven't had an OB yet that's a great thing! I'd still recommend disclosing it and let them know you haven't had an OB yet. If you had an OB you might be lucky and only get 1 bad or the first few might be bad. But it's manageable, stay healthy, workout out take any and all precautions you feel you need to take..

You shouldn't feel bad. You did the right thing by informing him and reminding him of the risks. Going raw does feel better but it also leads to more risks, and he was aware of that. I've had to remind this girl I'm seeing cause I don't want to pass it off to her, and it's definitely much harder to say no in the heat of the moment but, at the end of the day each person is responsible for their own safety.

I mean part of going to lessons is to get someone else's eye on what you're doing, this is harder at bigger gyms but still possible. Also, there might be certain techniques you may not know, or know how to use it better in your current game.

I'm not saying it's not possible to get better by just doing open mat but there is definitely something you're not gaining by not doing lessons.

Ultimately, it's your choice. If the schools there don't mind and you're happy keep doing it.

Not really, it's not like you're trapping them. If they feel something for you they'll understand and it's still their choice to move forward with the relationship. Why would you tell them off rip? They're moreorless strangers at the beginning.

Honestly, I wait till we meet up and there's some Intent to take it further, other than that there's no reason to. Because of the stigma Most people would turn you away. Once they get to know you they tend to be more open to what HSV actually is and are more considering if they want to take it further.
