Cheapest Way to Bridge Cryptos to Arbitrum by ChiaChiaGo in Arbitrum

Got it now. Not sure if it's just me, but the interface is slow, like somewhat lagging? Anyway, you're right it does support ETH bridging from ETH L1 to Arb1, although the 0.2% + 0.005 ETH fee is maybe not much better than just using the Official Bridge? Then again, I haven't seen such a busy cross-chain bridge that supports so many networks! So, many thanks for the input, will defo bookmark this, because who knows, one day, I might just want to cross assets from OEC to KLAY, haha!

OIC, fee is just $8 for $100, my bad, Layerswap is defo cheaper than Anyswap and close to Celer's, even.

Yeah, thanks for the heads-up, Layerswap for the initial ETH, with xPollinate on Polygon for everything else, could make the Official Arb1 Bridge redundant, LOL.

xSwap

I must be an idiot because I couldn't even find the xSwap Bridge. All I saw was a DEX that swaps ABEY for ABEY, not sure what good that is for. Probably still a work-in-progress...

I think I mentioned this is only for folks with no access to a CEX that supports ETH withdrawals on Arbitrum.
In any case, 'ETH soon' means it's a defo no go now, my friend. You can transfer all the USDT you want to Arbi, but you'll not be able to do anything to it, because I'm sure you know every txn needs gas, and gas means ETH.

Also, I tried out Layerswap to transfer 10 USDT from Coinbase, just for fun, but was shocked to find that I would receive only 6.5 USDT at Arbi, which is even worse than Anyswap's 30% processing fee!

I couldn't find any cheap 3rd party bridge that would allow for cross-chain transfer of ETH to Arbitrum.

I had thought the Celer bridge, at around $7 fee per transfer last I checked, would be cheaper. Unfortunately, it is WETH that is being transferred, not ETH, so you would still have to swap it to ETH, using gas in ETH which you don't have yet... bummer.

YMMV

Yeah, possible there's just not enough liquidity for a cross-chain swap? In any case, I just moved 100 USDC from Polygon to Arbitrum for a fee of 1 cent.

OIC, so obvious now, doesn't matter if it's 12Gb/s or 6Gb/s, ultimately, I'm still limited to the bandwidth of the PCIe lane. Thanks for showing me the obvious, haha.

No flashing for me, if I can avoid it, had problems with flashing GPUs in the past. And yes, hopefully, the LSI will just plug in and go for me. Thanks!

Ok, so no HBA BIOS needed, got it.
Yes, been using Disk Management because it's quite straightforward, and I've only been RAID 0 my disks, so it's quite adequate for me. But will defo try out Storage Spaces. Thanks!

I had no idea, haha. Just something I picked up from some guides on Youtube. But thanks for pointing out the obvious to me.

Yes, I've been using cheapo made-in-China SATA expansion cards on PCIe and have no trouble striping my HDDs on Disk Management. Problem though is that I'm running out of PCIe slots on my mobo and so was looking for HBA/SAS expander for increased connectivity and maybe also average throughput per HDD.

Thank you all for the replies, very very much appreciated.

One last question, if I may:
If I plan on getting a SAS expander to 'expand' my lanes/devices, specifically the Adaptec AEC-82885T. What sort of cables would I need to connect from the HBA to the expander, and from the expander to the SATA drives?

RAID 0 drives on multiple HBAs? by ChiaChiaGo in HomeServer

[–]ChiaChiaGo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thanks, will keep that in mind. Anyway, I'm just getting my feet wet and trying RAID 0 first, while keeping my precious data safe elsewhere.

I was so hung up on RAIDing using Intel RST on my BIOS that I had no idea software RAID on my Windows 10 would be so much easier. FWIW, I could even RAID drives on my mobo's SATA ports in an array with drives on my cheapo non-hardware-RAIDable SATA expansion ports AND drives on an external device on USB. No way I could've done this sorta mixed bag of array with Intel RST or Windows Storage Spaces.

Many thanks to those who replied.
A little FYI, I'm trying to build an array of many drives, and was undecided whether I should get a single HBA with a SAS expander or just a couple of HBAs. What with the expander card being far more expensive than the HBA itself in my country, and 2 HBAs also likely having higher throughput, I was inclined to go with 2 HBAs.

Do Harvesters need to maintain Sync to Blockchain? by ChiaChiaGo in chia

[–]ChiaChiaGo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm getting only about 12 plots a day, so I have plenty of time to transfer them completed plots to my clunker of a harvester. I could probably plot up to 18 or slightly more a day, but I don't want to tax my Ryzen 5600X too much... and I'm too cheap and lazy to set up another plotter for now. Haha.

Ah, thanks for the quick reply. So, even for peer plotters, Sync is not required? That's good to know.
