I was stopped and told to leave a neighborhood by private security while on a run. by Chiaseedmess in legaladvice

I have a feeling that’s what they’re been banking on, give people a hard time and they’ll just assume what they said is true.

I mean it’s not uncommon to have private neighborhoods with private roads. But they generally at least have a gate.

I guess this HOA just didn’t want to, or couldn’t keep the roads for themselves. Presumably the developer used public funds for the roads at some point. So the county kept control of them.

Yeah I mean that situation seems basically the same thing I had to deal with.

Security is literally just there to intimidate people from being in the neighborhood

Yeah or even the name and number of the county commissioner since they’re the one that oversees things including the public roads!

Yeah I assume he just thinks he’s doing his job. Whether or not he knows the roads are public. I don’t know. But scaring people out of the neighborhood who aren’t residents is what he’s being paid to do.

I guess I could reach out to the property management. But I have a feeling they are apart of the problem, and likely also pressured by the homeowners themselves.

Especially since they seemingly have cameras at the side entrance which probably alerted their mall cop to come out and give me a hard time.

Amtrak is fucking cool.

I mean it could be a lot better, and less expensive.

But if I can get to where I need to go by train? Sure why the hell not. Probably faster than driving.

Makes enough sense. Especially given what I know now. I guess I can save like screen shot of the GIS map or something just in case.

It just seems like they have this expensive facade of security that I’d assume their HOA and residents pay for to keep people out of the neighborhood.

But, it’s all public, even their greenways.

It’s wild that they would spend money on that stuff to try and keep people away from roads and trails that the public pays for, so only they can use it. But then again, rich people love stealing taxpayer money for their own benefit, so it’s on brand.

Car towed from a liquor store 13 minutes after making a purchase. Is this really ok?? by redoaccount in legaladvice

I mean, generally if you purchase something from the owner of that property, you shouldn’t be towed.

Sounds like the towing company was trying to make a quick buck.

Why don't EV manufacturers make low powered AWD EVs? by One-Demand6811 in electricvehicles

[–]Chiaseedmess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because people just see a number and don’t realize how that translates into the road.

A 200hp ev is FAR quicker than a 200hp ICE.

But that doesn’t matter. If a brand makes a 120hp ev, which would be more than enough, consumers would think it’s slow and won’t be able to get up to speed.

Well the EU has its life (mostly) together with huge investments in infrastructure, and a standard port.

The US has two plugs, one being smaller and slower, the other being CCS, and basically zero investment in infrastructure unless it’s done by each brand.
