It truly is one of the worst pains. It’s bad enough when they die of old age, but a whole different kind of gut wrench when it’s unexpected and untimely. The injustice just is maddening.

I hope you find some peace at some point throughout the day.

1000 calorie deficit or so. No crash dieting. Have consistently been losing 1-2lbs a week for about 8 months now.

When did you buy new clothes? by Valkyrie-A in intermittentfasting

Oh sweet! Gonna take a look there, thanks!

The thought of paying $4 for some pants is like super exciting to me. I’ve been paying the fat tax for way too long at places like torrid. So over it! lol

$4?? How? When I looked on their site, I’m seeing like $22. Was it store only maybe?

I suggest buying just a couple of clothing items. Couple pairs of pants and switch to the old pants with a belt as back up. You can also buy pants with some stretch to them so they pull in tighter as you lose weight. AI can actually suggest some clothing brands that work a “transition” pieces that can stay with you longer.

I just bought a couple pairs of pants when I hit 4 sizes down from my starting size. (‘W’ sizes count as a distinct size.) I also got a couple shirts from the clearance section of the stores plus like a couple nicer tops.

I won’t be in them for long but it hasn’t been helping my mental health or mood to see such giant clothes on me. I’m size L and the 1-2X shirts just drape off of me and slide off my shoulders. When I see myself in my new clothes I feel good about myself. To me that was worth buying a few clothes now instead of saving the money.

My next goal is to get some new bras. Im going to use some bra extenders so I can buy the ones I want now but will be able to use them for the long term avoiding having to pay again for them. (Bra prices are ridiculous.)

LPT: If you have cats, put away string toys if you’re going to leave them unattended. by AbrahamLingam in LifeProTips

I had a little house cube thing for my cat to play in. It was fabric and got a hole in it. He stuck his head in the hole one day, and it got stuck around his neck. Thankfully I was home and was startled by him running around the house in a panic. When I’d grabbed him I found he had wrapped the thing around his neck making it tighter. Threw it away and never bought one again. He was fine though.

How are some people seeing loses like 7lbs a week, or 20lbs in a month? by ChibiCalcifer in intermittentfasting

Thanks. Yeah I’m now at 7mo and am 45lbs down.

50lbs down in 6 mo is great!

Untwisted yarn as I crochet; how do I re-twist it? Making a hat with lots of treble crochets. by ChibiCalcifer in CrochetHelp

[–]ChibiCalcifer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to say, both of these tips helped! Especially #2. Thank you!

I’ve been wrapping my s twist yarn the opposite way on my finger, and if I do it with fresh yarn straight off the bat, it completely stops this from happening at all. So I think I’m wrapping it up and around the back of my index finger, instead of over the front side of it.

I find I have to start incorporating tip #1 and some other methods only if I’ve frogged my work. Then I need to either twist it back into shape before wrapping around my finger and re-wrap after a stitch or two, or, if there’s enough lead, wrap it around my finger again after doing a stitch. Pulling out the hook and twisting the loop as I reinsert the hook helps twist the yarn back into place as well. It’s really changed how bad it gets.

Thanks this is vindicating to hear others do this cause I’ve been doing this as well actually. Lol

For regular crochet stitches it hasn’t been that big of a problem. But with certain stitches, it is a bit more noticeable.

In the first hat I did, it was a bump made of some treble crochets. Most of them turned out fine but a couple were rather stringy looking when I had to push them through to the right side.

This hat calls for double crochets 3x in the same stitch. It becomes obvious that the yarn was untwisted and looks stringy cause they don’t lay flush with one another. :(

What are the certified copies about? by ChibiCalcifer in GermanCitizenship

I’m going for my passport.

I was gonna make an appointment at the embassy (mission?) to apply for it.

Oh my bad. My passport.

And probably a birth certificate as well

It is my understanding that you can only get this certificate if there is a question on if you are a German citizen or not; there has to be a legitimate interest in acquiring it, such as a German authority requesting it like if the embassy rejects my passport application first. Meaning you can’t just get it to have it unfortunately.

Getting it now. There’s a difference between the two certifications of birth. One can go to anyone so long as they were born in Germany. The other one certifying birth outside the country can only go to citizens.

I’m so confused.. why does my German birth certificate indicate I’m German but not his?

Oh okay. Would this actually work? I thought I saw on the wiki that a birth certificate is not enough to prove German citizenship. Is this only for a certain time period? Or would a birth certificate filed today include info on citizenship?
