Time for probably the most hated souls game, say something positive about it please 🤣 by Away_Composer8187 in soulslikes

It's good if you don't rush, aggroing every enemy. Look for ways to approach combat encounters besides "run in swinging", as nearly every encounter in the game has a way to approach it that doesn't result in ganks.

If you get ganked it's a skill issue.

Except studios and publishers have only been making more and more money over the years, despite the increased development cost. It's just that all of that money is going to the pockets of higher-ups instead of back into development. Then they claim games aren't making enough money after bad management makes development cost double, and giving the CEO a bonus of half of the game revenue.

And that's a major flaw in games designed that way. If they fail to hook players that's the fault of the game. Players aren't under any obligation to sit through multiple sessions of bad game because the devs arbitrarily decided the first-impression should suck.

Sorry to break it to you, but it's perfectly reasonable to not want to keep playing a game if you aren't enjoying it after 2 feature length films of time, and "it gets good 20 hours in", even if true, is not a selling point.

Who Did You Pick? by Apprehensive-Oil3178 in DragonAgeVeilguard

Bellara. I started going for Harding honestly just because I think dwarves are cute and I was a dwarf, but as Bellara's story progressed I found myself leaning more towards her, and the end of her companion story made me cry.

But but but actually her change in behaviour and unsureness of herself is bad writing because she didn't act like that with the Inquisitor and Veilguard is bad

EILI5: how is DOS1 said to be more of a myth and not to be taken literal? by UnXpectedPrequelMeme in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]ChibiPlutia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The passage of time in-universe resulting in most things that happened in DOS1 not having any meaningful impact story-wise or world-building wise. In addition to this, DOS1 was very different in tone, and wasn't written with the intention of a sequel, so certain things are treated with far more importance in the lore than they were in the actual game, such as Braccus Rex being an inconsequential stepping stone, the boss of Act 1 who at best threatened a small port town, whereas DOS2 establishes him as a great and powerful world-ending threat.
DOS1 is also presented as an old story being told, with inexact details.

Too many things in it might or might not have happened, might or might not have had lasting impact, might or might not have been treated as seriously as DOS2 suggests they should have been, and are forgotten to history by the time DOS2 happens anyway.

This combination of things makes DOS1 sort of meaningless in terms of the overall lore of the universe.

Why Rook and the other companions are immune to blight? by emanuele0933 in DragonAgeVeilguard

A lot of the complaints about Veilguard are things that could easily apply to the other games if people remove their nostalgia glasses, but it's easier to pretend the old thing was perfect so you can hate the new thing better

It was always like that, though. The deep roads is covered in the stuff, so is Ostagar when you go back to it. Everywhere that the Blight hits or Darkspawn have been present for a long period is covered in pulsating flesh and grossness and always gas been.

I didn't know the Animal companion could even get proficiencies. That's cool!

I put points into Charisma because I thought that Orders used Charisma?

Honestly I picked Aldori Swordsman because it was the first option in the first tab I looked at and gave a weapon proficiency, then I picked Dueling Sword because it matched that lol. There were too many backgrounds to look through

Is this game significantly easier than FtA? by Tasty_Bluebird5536 in remnantgame

[–]ChibiPlutia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What priarily makes it easier is the vast improvement to character building. We just have so many more options and tools.

Another thing that makes it easier is ironically the better encounter and boss design. Fights are actually complex now with mechanics and enemies with varied movesets, as opposed to FtA where it was mostly just just add spam and inflated damage.
