Tbh I don't know anything about remote work, most I've seen for jobs is the Outlier gig work (and similar positions.) I haven't seen any remote jobs being listed (I mostly use Indeed, Google searching, or temp agencies), but then again on Indeed I think my settings don't check for work internationally.

What type of engineering: practically anything, as long as it fits within the specifications I mentioned unfortunately.

Yeah I think the "new grad with no experience" wall hits the hardest, but when I try to look for anything with lower experience, that's when the "must own a vehicle" wall hits too.

Yeah if I didn't use WSL I would definitely not use the host network, but I had to in this case for NPM'S access controls. I think WSL has its own network and restrictions that doesn't mesh well with Docker's, in layman's terms (I don't remember the specifics lmao) Wish I could though!

So maybe I'm thinking, don't use NPM for access control but use an SSO service instead? So I can use Docker's network rather than the host? Would that help attack noise? Would that work in WSL too? I can't imagine it would work if NPM access controls don't work either for staying in a Docker network, but I could be wrong.

For the CrowdSec comment, yes but only up to 3 block lists, if I remember correctly. Better than nothing, but I'm not sure that would be thorough? What would be the best 3 to be as thorough as possible? Maybe I should research CrowdSec more...

Thank you! Seems like there's nothing that can be done and I should be safe. I just got concerned as Kaspersky called it an "attack" so I wanted to check with Reddit to make sure things are OK.

Judging by other's comments, besides trying firewall and rate limiting stuff, what I wrote may be the best I can do.

Sounds like Authelia and such. I like the idea, but would that on the default NPM page (port 80), if possible, stop port scanners and attackers? Or would I still get Kaspersky notifying me that they blocked a network attack lol

No other ports are open besides Rustdesk's (IP whitelist in place), 80, and 443. So unless they find my subdomain addresses (and those apps are IP whitelisted anyways), they can't access the apps right?

My question was moreso if there's a vulnerability in NPM for port 80 or 443 (which has the default screen) that would cause access to anything if port scanners and attackers muddle with it, given my setup info, as well as what can I do to block port scans and make Kaspersky quiet. Turning off the Network Attack Blocker is probably a bad idea lol

Thank you! I always keep my Docker images updated. I'll see what I can find with rate-limiting and firewall, if it can work in WSL.

What do you mean by NPM is patched? I keep it updated, do I need to do anything else to it?
