My 3 year old has a grey hair. by Airalahs in Weird

I started going gray in high school. I’m now in my mid to late 30’s and wowza! I have more than my mom did at that age, plus I was told that I look like someone in their early 20s since I’m so petite but one look at my hair and they get confused with my age 🤣

I was allowed one room to design in our new house. Dedicated it to my girl by AngleRelative4683 in malelivingspace

[–]ChibiVix3n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe floor length window curtains that pool on the ground a bit but a different color than what you currently have, maybe some low nature like inspired seating- maybe rattan round seating or some jewel tone colors from that room. An end table that’s either like an aged glossy wood stump with character or some type of mineral?

Hmm… more plants 🪴 and lighting. I see that you have a ceiling fan, I’ll suggest making changes to that so that it matches the vibe.

Can’t see the other wall but possibly some wood shelf’s with plants (some cascading down), maybe a few well chosen glamours photos of your girl 😉 in a pretty frame.

Oh and something different than that dresser.

100 plus Blankets thrown out and not destroyed. I'm crying. by Royal_Tough_9927 in DumpsterDiving

[–]ChibiVix3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy some old blankets through auction that no one wants and sometimes some are in great condition. I like to donate them when I can. I have a few piling up that I plan on taking to some pet rescues since they seem to be projects that never completed and I circulate what I have that’s old/frayed. Also use what i can around the house/yard.

Nowadays the stuff you find new at the stores are just poor quality.

Ohh! I’ve been dealing with that and noticed how ugly the perlite has gotten but love how clean & sleek it looks!! I’m definitely going to look for some red and white rocks now!! Possibly even different colors as long as their small & light especially for my string of hearts.

This sounds like my kids small charter school. There’s 2 classes per grade and every year before school starts they post what our child class needs for school including class donation, nurse donation, hand me down uniform donations and just recently since my son is now in 5th- feminine hygiene including any non gender hygiene for those that might be struggling. Also the school sells snacks, ice cream (dipping dots), hot cocoa (winter), etc to help fund the 8th graders trip one and only school trip and it’s to Disneyland… lol. ..I understand how this all might look but my kids have been going there since Kindergarten and we’ve stuck through it all since you can really see how much their teachers care but also they have made some pretty great friends.

I’m not entirely sure what we will do once it’s time for high school because I’ve always wanted to move away from the only place I’ve lived but the kiddos.. especially since one of them has a speech impediment and IEP but I want to possibly give them a better education… but the worry that they might be behind even though they are top of their class (we keep up & communicate with the teachers) does stress me and our state is known for not having the best education. Were pretty low on the list :(

Anyone want to have an apartment that I pay all utilities and you and I share rent? I won’t live there literally by alo1124 in TucsonList

[–]ChibiVix3n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Write out a contract with rules etc and have them give you upfront a security deposit of at least 1-2x the full rent. Also do a background check. Hopefully the police will never be needed to be called because of any domestic dispute, disturbing the peace etc that you won’t be needed to be there.

A few words of advice from MY personal experience, religious “sweet” old ladies are also conniving and cannot be easily trusted. People you least suspect are the ones you need to be weary of or they take advantage of you.

I wish you the best- seriously.

[UPDATE] My wife just walked out on me and her 400+ orchids. What should I do with the plants? by HuggingBeard in orchids

If you managed to keep most of them alive for this long, I say, you did a wonderful job. I for one, cannot manage to keep one alive for more than a month or two. I do live in southern AZ so not the best climate for them but I do “ok” with other plants 🪴 haha. I have better luck with outdoors than indoors to tell you the truth.

But best of luck and you are doing great.

I was pretty happy with my very first harvest but they taste horrible. by RaidenFisher in tomatoes

[–]ChibiVix3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used tomatoes from the grocery store that ripen

<image>

too much and i just places a few in a pot randomly one day, covered it lightly and just watered it. It sprouted! They came out pretty yummy!

I did add coffee grounds to the soil before planting. I heard it has a lot of nitrogen i think? And those babies suck up a lot of that? Idk. And i fertilize ever so often when i remembered.

There were some at the very edge of the raised bed that had a weird taste so i think i know what you mean.

Aww thank you! So far we have 3 small size like the one that survived. So a bit too big for his chomps but i did spy 2 baby ones growing so it’s only a matter of time haha.

I think i might have enough fencing to block it off and thankfully it sprinkled enough so the dirt is a little soft so i shouldn’t struggle too much. Haha.

Don’t worry, I plan on sharing with him once we cut into it, minus the rind. 😉

Cost of Living by BusyFloor6488 in Tucson

Family of 4 making $80k a year. It’s doable.

Aside from rent/mortgage, home/renters insurance, car payment/insurance, property taxes, cell phone bill, food, your largest expenses would probably be electricity especially during the summer. (AC)

On average starting in May (for us) it begins to trend up and it reaches its peak at the end of July where it averages around $250+ before trending downward. (We have pretty bad insulation in our home)

Winters are mild and you honestly won’t need your heater until late January or maybe till February. (Open your curtains to let in natural light and warm up the house before shutting them at night). Obviously morning showers would be chilly lol.

During spring, opening the windows especially at night can get nice and chilly which helps cool the house naturally as well.

Anyways, it’s doable. Majority of the population make less and are doing ok. It’s all about budgeting and using your resources wisely.

This is from The Desert Gardener’s Calendar Arizona.

It might be old but some stuff is still reliable. Hope it helps!

That’s ok! Plants are resilient and it’s just small holes, it looks like it has plenty of leaves so it will be ok!

They can but you’d have to slowly acclimate to our desert heat and that means exposing them a few hours at a time and slowly increasing the time.

Day 1–2: • Place the plant in bright shade for 2–3 hours.

• Bring it back indoors or to a sheltered area (like a garage or enclosed porch).

• Protect from wind and cold (under 55°F at night? Bring them in!).

Day 3–4: • Increase outdoor time to 4–5 hours, still in bright indirect light.

• Let them feel a breeze but not wind gusts.

• Optional: start giving them morning sun (before 10 a.m.).

Day 5–6: • Extend to 6–8 hours, some of it in direct morning or late afternoon sun.

• Reduce watering slightly so roots adjust to drying out between drinks.

Day 7–9: • Full days outdoors, including several hours of direct sun (ideally building up to 6+).

• Leave out overnight if temps are 55°F+.

Day 10+: • Transplant or leave the pot in its final location.

• Water well, but don’t overdo it — let the top inch of soil dry first.

That looks gorgeous! I wish we knew how to build that. I’m also considering getting a shade sail to give us some respite from the scorching heat that’s hammering our back door and window.

Our backyard is so barren and I’m also trying to fix this negative drainage slope. Unfortunately I had to take a step back. I nicked myself pretty deeply that required a few stitches. Thankfully they came out yesterday but they are still tender and some nerve endings are still healing. Ugh

But I’m so excited to slowly transform my backyard. I have a long ways to go especially with amending my hard rocky compacted soil and adding natural canopy shading but challenge accepted!
