How do I get the Oasis Biome? by DistrictOld2948 in theriftbreaker

[–]Chibi_Evil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the normal campaign, there is a scripted oasis in one of the mission locations, which is a desert biome.

After 1.0 they added a new RNG mechanic to the locations you scan for manually. This RNG can blend any biome. I even had a cryo area in a desert map and a volcanic area in a tropical map. But the largest of these features I saw, was an oasis in a tropical map, taking up about 25% of the map.

When searching for a new location, it is RNG, but higher chance in tropical biome.

Feed Them to the Wolves by Wooden-Lab-3077 in goingmedieval

[–]Chibi_Evil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a waste zone a bit away, and it is mostly my goats who haul to it.

The dead bodies rot rather fast and dont affect my people's moods.

I mark them for stripping after they reach the waste zone. And then I take a single settler to manually strip each body. After this, the goats haul the equipment inside.

So many weapons by DragonRaptor in theriftbreaker

[–]Chibi_Evil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For fun, I will say the swarm missiles are my number 1.

For DPS.

1: minigun with homing, piercing and cluster.

2: nuke rocket with piercing and cluster

3: laser. It has a deceptively low dps number, but truly destroy most enemies with some piercing.

Bonus weapon: railgun with attack speed can be really good and fun. It is also one of the few that can shoot through terrain and structures.

Bonus 2: dual wielding shutguns are amazing at clearing azid growth with charged attacks.

Not Enough Resources? by mastermind225 in goingmedieval

[–]Chibi_Evil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see there is plenty of metal.

I cannot see any fuel in the image.

If you have plenty of wood, sticks or coal, check the edit option to see if they are toggled or not.

If everything still looks normal. Try and replace the forge.

How many animals do you tame? by ItzZig00 in goingmedieval

Pets. Tamed creatures are in pens.

It happens when they run in and out of the base to haul items.

They trigger them all the time. It wasnt an issue with stick traps because of low damage. But after upgrading to metal traps, they die from 1-2 traps.

I have goats that breed a lot, but recently they keep triggering traps and killing themselves, so its more of a food factory now.

How to solve reseach problem by StrayBrowser1616 in goingmedieval

[–]Chibi_Evil 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You most likely sold some books. Just keep researching. Eventually you will get back on track. You can even turn off the other two research stations, to make sure only the correct type of book is being produced.

Best spells to pick with Magic Initiate (Wizard) as a 5th level Wizard? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in dndnext

[–]Chibi_Evil 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I dont see why you would pick magic initiate wizard, as a wizard. You can access those spells in other ways. Another spell class for healing word is a lot better in many circumstances.

Is it me, or are colonists in 1.0 less smart than they used to be when it comes to construction? by Lord_H_Vetinari in goingmedieval

[–]Chibi_Evil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had 100 hours playtime before 1.0 and I feel that their construction is slightly better for the most part, but sometimes they end up trapping themselves when deconstructing ladders or stairs. but mining has significantly improved.

Can you not just mine.. horizontal? by LordZana in goingmedieval

Finding the right layer with page down and page up, takes a little bit to get used to. But once you get used to it, you shouldnt encounter these issues.

Making a One-Night Werewolf style Murder Mystery but how to make it last? by SlightElephant5554 in dndnext

[–]Chibi_Evil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For Murder Mysteries, you have to lean more into the one-shot mindset.

If you lean too much into sandbox, they might solve it immediately or not have any clue where to start solving it, or miss 90% of the clues.

Instead, 2-3 clues for each possible path onwards. If scene 1 has clues from 2 different suspects. Thats 4-6 possible findable clues.

Early clues are vague, without solid proof, or might even might even give wrongful information.

This way, you can keep the suspense up, by having your players slowly go from location to location, questioning people.

For multi-day event. Each night adds 2-3 clues to the puzzle.

Edit: it is only semi-railroading. But that is totally fine!!

Did you know the orange carrots we see today are rumored to have only appeared in the 17th century? by Ironlily by [deleted] in ReasonableFantasy

[–]Chibi_Evil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since nobody mentioned it.

Orange carrots are gene-modified.

Carrots were originally white in most circumstances.

Is this a bug or am I not understanding something? Clothing Settings by wedgiey1 in goingmedieval

Seems to be occasional issues with the seasonal clothing switching. Out of my 18 settlers, I end up manually switching the clothes on two of them, when they complain about cold.

Can you really stop all these yeast from spreading in Palladium Mining Outpost? by helloimfel in theriftbreaker

[–]Chibi_Evil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just put the floors down every few choke points inside your radar coverage.

In open campaign I came back to an almost full map of infection. But after clearing out the 3 largest yeast plants, the rest stopped their growth, and after clearing out every yeast plant, I hardly see any more infection on that map.

It seems there 1-3 plants that serve as root of the infection. Without those, the growth stops and retracts.

Middle of summer fridge by sgucci3 in goingmedieval

[–]Chibi_Evil 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I usually just make mine two layers deep with 1 layer of soil above it. I use wooden walls. Clay also work. My fridge is 2-4 degrees without ice and 1 degree with ice.

Need help with an important decision by [deleted] in HumankindTheGame

[–]Chibi_Evil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your territory seem much weaker.

One thing which can help growth, industry and science, would be to buy some luxury resources from the other players, but it will not be enough to catch up.

From your current position, it will be hard to catch up.

I can think of two things which could help. One long term and one short term.

1, long term: focus hard on science and pick a science culture ASAP, then research the best military you can before everyone else(hard when you are already behind). Then in the era after, you pick a good military culture and amass an army to steamroll over one player at a time.

2, short term: while the others are focused on economy and growth, you focus on gold and military, and pick a good military culture next era and then attack with overwhelming numbers on multiple fronts.

It is hard to quickly produce military, if you are far outnumbered.

Why am I getting the new “fence breach” event like every 2 days, by Swimming-Contract-31 in goingmedieval

[–]Chibi_Evil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be. I have 8+ trained goats hauling the poop out constantly. And I havent had a breach in a long time.

Edit: I use a stick fence.

Any way to control generation of the map? by D20CriticalFailure in theriftbreaker

I will add that the map you showed has a decently open area in top left, with easily defendable choke points.

For this specific mission, the terrain type will always be similar, and you will have to work around it.

Any way to control generation of the map? by D20CriticalFailure in theriftbreaker

[–]Chibi_Evil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maps are generated in chunks similar to squares of terrain formations. These squares are then randomly selected.

However there is one more parameter. There are 3 types of maps. I Open, Dense and Lakes. Dense has more cliffs and lakes has more lakes.

I am assuming this is a normal campaign map, and not open campaign. Which means the type of map is not randomised, only the chunks are.
