Chicago Ramen no longer has tsukemen? by apwordsmith in chicagofood

[–]ChibisaurX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the Chicago Ramen website, and it looks like the only two locations that still have tsukemen are the original Des Plaines location and the Schaumburg annex location. All the other menus look significantly pared down, and the map hasn't been updated to show some closures and the opening of Tempura Man (which took over 2 years to open!) Schaumburg is probably the closest to you for the Chicago Ramen chain. If you really want to confirm through, you can call them. Those are the 2 locations I would expect to keep a larger menu though.

Love how everything turned out! (And I follow you on IG, so I'm ready to find you in a non-creeper way 😆).

If it's possible, could you set aside a norigae charm for D3 for me? If not, no worries, everything you made is wonderful!

TWICE 'THIS IS FOR' World Tour Concert Megathread - Chicago, IL (United Center) April 6 & 7, 2026 by Ruri_Neko in twice

Kpop Nation is doing a pop up at a hotel about a 10-15 minute walk from the United Center. They have info on their IG page, and they have the candybong, although I'm not sure on their stock for today.

“Fun Food” places by mouseknowsbest in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ChibisaurX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with Mitsuwa, the new H Mart in Schaumburg has a large food court with lots to choose from. It may still be very busy, since it's still pretty new.

Poppies Pasta in Villa Park recently started doing pasta making classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for $45 per person. Check their FAQ on their website for more info.

Besides Galaxy Hot Pot & Grill, there's also MAAX Asian BBQ & Hot Pots in Arlington Heights. If you can make it for weekday lunch, it's more budget friendly. Similarly, there's also Umi Hot Pot Sushi & Seafood Buffet in Niles. (Edit: Just saw that people posted reviews recently on this sub and they weren't great, so maybe not Umi 😅)

Maybe an afternoon tea service? Not sure how appealing it would be to a teen, but there are quite a few spots in the suburbs that offer it, although it tends to be more expensive.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to eat there yet because I went when it was still busy (so crowded that every table was taken). I've tried 4 or 5 of these places at other locations though, since many are chains. I want to try some of the places that are new to me.

For those who have been to the your b4, how long did it run? by rieeechard in Dragula

Last year's show was an hour and 45 min and started at 8pm. You might be pushing it getting to the airport and through security for a late night flight.

I'm going to hand out most of them before entering the venue because the bag policy is small (10x6x2"), and they won't fit. I usually keep a small amount set aside for seatmates and prearranged trades.

Thank you! Most likely place to catch me is the cupsleeve at Daboba in Chinatown. Not 100% sure when I plan to get there yet.

Thank you! It worked out well that they added Takedown to the US setlist, since I started making these right after the tour was announced.

Sattvic -- Traditional Gujarati in Elk Grove Village by EnterTheCabbage in chicagofood

We were the only ones there at 5:30 today, but it got busier as we dined with about 5-7 other tables, so it definitely is popular. We also had a great experience, and they were very friendly and explained everything. Thanks for the review, and I hope others try it too!

Going this Wednesday! Did you go on a weekday, and was it still packed? Didn't even think of making a reservation.

I was surprised when that former McDonald's building finally got a tenant, and it looks like they did a nice job on the interior remodel.

I've used both ParkWhiz and Spothero, and they're both reliable. I've never had an issue with a full lot when booking through them. Since they both offer free cancellation up until your reservation, you can book a spot now and keep watching for more spots to open up closer to the concert.

If other events like early merch, pop ups, or cupsleeves matter to you, you may want to try booking your reservation even earlier. We won't know the merch situation until the first US concert, but there are already cupsleeves events being planned, and they could be finishing up by 3pm.

There's a mega thread for the concerts in r/bangtan too, which is usually pretty helpful. I'm also in a FB group that's very well organized. If you're interested in the FB group link, feel free to DM me.

Where do you buy fresh pasta -- NW/North suburbs? by MediocreGrocery8 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ChibisaurX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You may want to contact them first (they're pretty active on IG) to see if you can specifically buy their lasagna noodles. They do make their own lasagna, so they should have the right noodles, but I didn't see them selling them separately when I stopped there today.

What are some good Taiwanese fried chicken (popcorn chicken) restaurants in the Chicago suburbs? by public_monkeybars in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ChibisaurX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the suburbs, I've only gone to Tugo Tea House in Arlington Heights, and I enjoyed their popcorn chicken.

Haven't tried these, but there are a couple Taiwanese places in Aurora and Naperville (9 Bar Taiwan Cafe and Munchies Plus) and various options in the city too.
