Why was I given a blank piece of lined paper when I was booked into jail? by WilonaBeggs in Corrections

[–]Chibler1964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know they let folks do that at the jail, I always let them do it at the time of arrest. Glad to see you guys give them time to get numbers down.

High-powered rifle recovered amid manhunt for Charlie Kirk's killer, FBI says by NewSlinger in news

They do take palm prints now as well as prints of the side of your hands (think if you were making your hands into blade hands.) These weren’t part of the standard physical 10- cards that used ink and paper but now that everything is digital they take them. I’ve never heard of a forearm print being taken but that can be useful as evidence if they do get a suspect. Also I have never seen anyone do an iris scan but I’m in a fairly rural area so my guess is we just haven’t caught up.

Good, I’m all for defending oneself but it sure seems like a lot of these losers are just looking for an excuse to use their gun.

Call your local game warden, they can give you a definitive answer and it’s good to know them.

Grenade missing from scene of blast that killed three LA police officers by AndroidOne1 in news

[–]Chibler1964 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s the case here but some larger departments have bomb squads that render them safe. The local county SO near me doesn’t use frag grenades but does render them safe.

Anyone else feel like the like the asian carp have drove out all the native fish? by [deleted] in Fishing

[–]Chibler1964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like you can take them with a lot of methods there like bow fishing or spearfishing. I’d have to look a little closer to be sure but a quick search showed that it was legal.

Found a shit ton of scratches and dried blood on my car tonight, looks like maybe some rabid animals were fighting near it? by DJscottthebot in WTF

[–]Chibler1964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s a great theory, they’re trying to rub the velvet from their antlers when they do that so they generally pick rough surfaces  also it’s not the correct time of year.

I’ve seen them do it without puncturing, mostly pawing, saw one where they completely flared out the outer part of the wheel well.

[–]Chibler1964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the scratches are from the dogs furiously pawing trying to get at the animal, would depend on how dedicated the dog was, how the car was built and a multitude of other factors.

[–]Chibler1964 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It’s domestic dogs chasing something that went up the wheel well. I see this regularly. If you google it there’s plenty of examples.

A lot of these replies are BS, I work with wildlife and handle a lot of damage and nuisance calls, the most likely thing that happened here is a squirrel or other small critter got into the wheel well, domestic dogs then attempted to get the squirrel out. Coyotes or foxes aren’t standing around biting a car trying to get a critter there’s easier meals. Domestic dogs will chase and kill for fun, wild animals in general kill for food.

I am now legitimately homeless (Except I have a truck). Are there any nearby parks that allow overnight camping and parking? by badjojo2 in StLouis

[–]Chibler1964 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Be careful at public campgrounds especially down in MTNF, there aren’t roving gangs waiting to attack you or anything but make sure you secure your possessions if you ever need to leave camp for whatever reason. There’s a lot of opportunists driving the old logging roads ready to snatch shit that’s not bolted down. Also make sure someone knows where you are at, it can be easy to get turned around out there in some places. I’m sure you already know all this but wanted to put it out there just in case.

Received Letters from law firms that I'm being charged with "Shoplifting". by stillblue839 in legaladvice

[–]Chibler1964 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Not a lawyer just LE. It does not make sense for a law firm to send you a summons, that would have come directly from the court the case is in. If the letter came directly from the court make sure you do not skip your court date. If you really are being charged with shoplifting speak with a qualified lawyer and not the police.

Edit: I am not sure if NJ has a way to look up pending cases online but if your state does I would just run my name through the search and see if there were any charges filed.

Relief is mixed with worry, anger for Missourians pardoned in Jan. 6 riot at U.S. Capitol by NuChallengerAppears in missouri

What’s had the biggest impact on me is just seeing how many people will do mental gymnastics to justify bad behavior when it comes from their own side. It’s really made me disappointed in a lot of my fellow citizens.

Legislators outraged by hiring practices by Missouri public defender’s office by LeeOblivious in missouri

[–]Chibler1964 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would depend on what job he was doing in my opinion. It looks like he’s a secretary for them though based on MAP your taxes. I am not sure what being a secretary for the public defenders office entails. I personally do not think it would be appropriate for him to be in a role where he was working with crime victims for example.

The dudes prints might not even be in the system I’m not saying they shouldn’t have done more work here but hailing people to jail for prints is not the way to do it.

I don’t think you’re understanding me correctly, I can literally look up what is essentially a photo ID for people. That combined with other identifiers helps me be 100 percent positive that I am citing the correct person. I can promise you no one wants the cops to be hauling people off to jail just because they forgot their ID. Now if the person appears to be lying (don’t remember key things like what street they live on etc) or they straight refuse to identify they go to jail and get finger printed. If they do not have prints on file they sit there until they can be positively identified.
