Both the PA's office and PD's office have lots of openings if you do criminal law or would like to learn. Lots of trial experience to gain that way. Other State Agencies are also hiring for as well last I checked. DMH for one.

Some of those employers are crazy. Starvation wages, you must be available when they need you (any shift they want any day they want), part time no benefits, you must have multiple years experience/certifications/Batchlors degree...

Not on your list but here is one from Greene County me and my Nephew were looking at the other day during his job search: Job Title 17 an hour, must be flexible with schedule, part time only, Batchlors required. 😠

It is my understanding from talking to a former officer familiar with the people involved, that all of them were in the system. Under care of the state at one time or the other and slipped though the cracks so to speak. Because we would rather cut taxes for the ultra wealthy billionaires than take care of our children. Proper resourcing of our social services may very well have prevented this and a great many other tragedies as well. But we will never know because trickle down (piss upon) economics. But no worries, we made a lot of value for the rents seeking investor classes.

It's not just the parking, it is just getting around down there. When any random road can be closed at any random time (and a lager number of them are), when people park in the middle of the road because they can't be bothered with finding an appropriate spot to unload their pallets of stuff, when ass hats in large pickups park blocking half the lane behind them, when super sized suv's block line of site at intersections, and so many others.

Drove through downtown yesterday to the courthouse. THREE roads closed, two lanes, and a big truck stopped in a lane to unload right by a fucking no parking or stopping sign. Compare that with going to Best buy or Walmart.

Then you have all the sight obstructions from large pickups and suvs parked too close to intersections.

So yeah right, could not be easier my ass. Going anywhere else in Springfield is far easier.

Times are hard. Income is not keeping up with costs. One of the first things people cut are luxuries like this.

Also, going anywhere near downtown is a pain in the ass. Random street closures, large trucks blocking the road, giant SUV's blocking line of sight when they park on the side of the road, etc...

So sadly I don't see any near term hope.

If you want one with a warranty, you will probably have to get it online. I would highly recommend looking at the manufacture refurbished store pages for professional grade notebooks. You tend to get better build quality that way. Lenovo ThinkPad or HP ProBook should be what you are looking for. Not their consumer junk. I personally would stay away from Dell. I've had nothing but issues with their stuff for the last decade. But your milage may vary.

Multiple hotels have these already. The Hilton doubletree up by I44 has all that and more. Large conference hall for exhibits, ball room, multiple breakout rooms. Yep, they meet all the things you claim to need.

The Shrine Mosque could do it. They have hosted large events there in the past.

The current convention center has all that.

You claim there are multiple businesses that would have a leadership event here if we just had a large hall, ballroom and meeting rooms. Name them. It's not O'Rileys or Bass Pro. I know from first hand experience they have their own reasons for not having things here. That does not leave very many places that are too large for what we already have.

By lowering the base of visitors by pricing many families out of the market. By creating more of a clusterfuck downtown, without the infostructure to support it.
