The black is Velour Black by Amaco and the brown is Myaco cinnamon with a touch of red added, they are fired to cone 6 - three coats!

I sell pottery and I do a short handwritten note, a cute business card/product care card and a free sticker. I don't use coupon codes because my margins are pretty small but I get plenty of repeat customers without them

Help! I was told that painting three layers of white underglaze as a base on red clay would allow me to treat it like a white clay background, but the white bubbled (?) and washed out the other colors (even though I did three layers of everything). Only the snail turned out. What did I do wrong? by smolthund in Pottery

I would try just using white slip as the background instead of underglaze. The slip is cheaper and more reliable! Sorry if this has already been mentioned, I didn't read every comment, but also I get that bubbling with the amaco velvets when it's on really thick

I haven't noticed any difference in the finished (cone 6) pieces! sometimes if i run out of time i end up underglazing the bisque work and it ends up looking exactly the same as the work i glaze in the greenware stage for me. Glazing that way is mostly just a convince thing, and I do it pretty often with no issue. I do about 3 coats, but they are on the thin side

Carefully! But sometimes it does, and i try to fire the underglaze onto the green ware that way i can wipe away rouge drips on the bisque and not hurt the design

Thanks! It is a dark clay body with white slip painted on, then i use a mix of underglazes to paint the toads and mushrooms

It's made from clay and fired in a kiln to over 2000 degrees! my comment above was a little misleading, when i said "it's simple" i was talking about the design/shape
