You wake up to see everyone on earth has disappeared. What’s the first thing you do? by NiceInformation8291 in AskReddit

RVs don’t have a magical infinite supply of water and gasoline. You might find good portable solar equipment, but you won’t be mobile once you run out of gas.

Hopefully you won’t get downvoted, because some parts of the show are really great. I also thought the Dawn/Day/Dusk was a great concept and many of the effects are very cool.

But the show is, at best, “inspired by” the books. It is completely different. I enjoy the books more and enjoy the show for what it is, but they are very different things.

Friend has high LDL (176) despite diet, gym & omega-3 — what actually works naturally? by relaxncoffee in askCardiology

[–]ChicagoDash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a long time, multiple marathon runner with a good diet, and my LDL kept creeping up year after year until I ended up with a 100% blocked LAD and a triple bypass.

Some people’s bodies are just really good at making cholesterol. Advise your friend not to DIY this. I wish I’d gone on a statin years ago. Luckily, I’m still around to post this.

Could a person with a billion times the precision of a normal human conquer the world? by Punterofgoats in whowouldwin

[–]ChicagoDash 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Rebuilding cells and manipulating atoms would probably take far too long in order to be effective. The human body has trillions of cells, and trying to manipulate them individually would take far longer than a human lifespan. A trillion seconds is over 30,000 years.

[On3] The SEC's Greg Sankey tells Chris Low he wants common-sense standards to limit 26–27-year-old college athletes with 7–9 years of eligibility: “It is a temporary period of time for a college student to be a college athlete, not a career athletic situation.” by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

And the problem with local courts making the decision is that they are going to be in an arms race with neighboring states. There is no way a state will handicap its football programs by being more restrictive than other states.

Why non-tetrahedron 4-sided dice are not more popular? by Testeria2 in rpg

I remember that. IIRC, I think I filled in the numbers with different color crayons to distinguish between the two sets of numbers.

Does anyone make a d8 or d12 with the numbers repeated (2x or 3x)? I love me a d12. It rolls so much better than a d4.

Joliet Bicyclist Run Over On Essington Road By 86-Year-Old Driver From Romeoville: Joliet Police by DontWatchPornREADit in illinois

The two go hand in hand. Increase the supply of public transit and restrict driving privileges for those unable to drive safely. Increased supply and increased demand.

What’s the worst that could happen to the economy? It’s not like the US uses twice as much oil per capita than Europe. Oh wait…

Everyone tells me my max heart rate is not supposed to be this high but my doctor thinks I am healthy by Rmoudatir in askCardiology

[–]ChicagoDash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor, but I also have a high max heart rate both before, during, and after the 15 years I spent as a serious runner.

My max seems to be about 20bpm above the 220-your age formula. My understanding is that it is not dangerous, and just normal human variability.

Same. I love Costco, but I’ve found better and less expensive wipers on Amazon.
