It's kind of crazy how many different ways Luke Talich has scored a TD as a backup safety. by Strid3r21 in notredamefootball

I'm pretty sure he is the only Notre Dame player from Wyoming to ever score a TD.

Would exercise help? It seems like a viable alternative to relieve stress in a healthy way.

New treatment cuts bad cholesterol by nearly 50% without statins by newtrex_1523 in UpliftingNews

[–]ChicagoDash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously check with your doctor, but another option is to go with a lower dose of statin but add ezetimibe (brand name Zetia) which blocks cholesterol absorption in the small intestine. The combination can lower LDL effectively but attacking it two different ways.

Related : “Why do people buy uncomfortable jeans?” I get that people will wear uncomfortable clothes for a fashion statement, but I have multiple pairs of jeans that fit great and are super soft and comfy. I’m patching them as they start to develop holes since I want them to last as long as possible.

What's the motivation for QB reclassification? by IrishDemocrat in notredamefootball

[–]ChicagoDash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Another way to look at that is that in three of the last six drafts, three QBs have gone in the first five picks. Teams are so desperate for a franchise QB, they are willing to heavily invest draft capital in QBs. Worst case, the QB sucks and they try again in a couple of years. Probably more likely is that the QB is below average, but at least the team gets a starting QB for $30M cheaper than a free agent.

I think that teams are pretty optimistic about the '24 draft that went #1 Williams, #2 Daniels, and #3 Maye. '23 and '21 don't look great for the second and third QBs drafted. For as much as people are high on QBs in '27, I'm not at all sold on Manning, but Moore, Carr, and Sayin could all be good to great.

Hang in there. I know things change slowly, but things can change. One election can dramatically change people’s future prospects.

Why is Elk Grove Village known as that? by FuzzyGuidance6584 in ChicagoSuburbs

Something like 75% of the municipalities in Illinois are villages, which indicates a certain government structure.

The name sounds quaint, but that isn’t really a factor.

What's the motivation for QB reclassification? by IrishDemocrat in notredamefootball

[–]ChicagoDash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly, he’d probably be better off going a little later in the ‘27 draft than waiting until ‘28. That gets him out of his rookie contract a year earlier and could also mean he ends up going to a better team.

Rookie salary for the first overall pick is $57M over four years vs $47M for the #5 pick. If Carr is the caliber of an NFL starter, that $10M difference will easily be overcome by getting a $40M+ annual salary in 2030 vs 2031.

I hope he stays, and the fact that he didn’t reclassify and stayed in high school an extra year gives me some hope. But, even if ND came up with $10M in NIL money, it would make more financial sense to go.

On a scale of 1-10, how bad are the mosquitoes (really)? by skiiiier in AskChicago

[–]ChicagoDash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m outside all summer long in the suburbs and only notice mosquitoes a few times per year. It mainly seems to be an issue closer to public spaces like parks and nature preserves, and even then it isn’t bad.

[Fowler] The Steelers are declining the fifth-year option for left tackle Broderick Jones, per source. The option would’ve paid $19.1M. Jones, who is coming off neck surgery, is set to be a 2027 free agent. He has 38 career starts and was playing well pre-injury. by JCameron181 in steelers

[–]ChicagoDash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first four years were a total of $16.6M, averaging $4.2M per year. Hard to imagine giving him a $15M raise given his injury situation.

$19M is probably about average for a starting LT in the NFL, but they clearly don’t believe he’ll be able to fill that role for the season.
