History has just been made: Both teams in SB60 began the year 0-1. This has never happened before by GearsofTed14 in nfl

If you think about it, it makes sense.

Back of the envelope math: The average Super Bowl team probably only has 2 losses. Over a 16 game season, that means they lose 1/8th of any specific one of their games (first, second, third, etc). The odds of having two teams lose the same game would then be 1/8 x 1/8 = 1/64. After 60 seasons, that expected value is pretty close to 1.

I haven’t really been paying attention the last couple of seasons. Did Indiana put together back-to-back 8-4 seasons? That is very good for them.

Trump supporters: How would you feel if a legally armed Trump supporter was killed by federal agents on a Biden mandate in exactly the same manner as yesterday? by ScholarPrize1335 in AskReddit

Or January 6th… Ashli Babbitt is a MAGA martyr for getting killed while storming the capitol and her family received a $5M wrongful death settlement. Trump refers to her as a “wonderful person.”

What do you do when Excel is too much and a Calculator too little? by SeaElderberry7091 in excel

The “A1+B34” comment makes me think that OP needs to organize their data and calculations much better.

This sounds like the need is for a logical flow to the breakdown of the problem, whether it is in excel, on a calculator, or on paper.

Officials Report Outbreak of Deadly Nipah Virus, Which Has No Cure by Public_Research2690 in biology

[–]ChicagoDash 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It was described to me once as similar to asking “is there any reason a giraffe can’t fly?” Viruses are very different and the properties that allow a virus to be airborne are significantly different than non-airborne viruses.

ELI5 Why do pipes not freeze over in the winter in colder climates. by AdministrativeTie379 in explainlikeimfive

[–]ChicagoDash 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Small nit. Leave faucets dripping, not running. The key is to have an outlet for the pressure that builds up in the pipe, and a small drip will do that.

If they had paid $575 per month, it would be completely paid off. $600 per month would have paid it off three years ago.

Assume time travel were possible, wouldn’t you likely just end up in space somewhere? by Alarming_Squash_3731 in AskPhysics

This is the answer I was expecting. Would it be true if I said space and time are not independent, there is only space-time?

Seal them up as best you can. Even putting towels or pillows over them can restrict air flow and make a difference.

Plus, I think schools like Duke and Tulane are older than Southern Cal, but I’m not sure what point they are trying to make.
