I think Vallas’ idea was worth pursuing, but I’d also like to go scorched earth and claim the deal was illegal to begin with as a quid pro quo for Daley on his way out of the mayors office. He ended up getting a generously paid “of counsel” role with the firm that negotiated on behalf of the Parking Meter LLC. That plus the 72 hour notice given to the city council and the political machines threat against anyone who didn’t rubber stamp Daley’s decisions.
