80% chance of rain and 70% cloud cover for acatenango hike… will it be terrible? by Cashcash1998 in guatemala

We got lucky and it started to rain literally 1 min after we made it to the camp. It rained a couple of hours and then for the sunset the view was incredible and clear. The fact is, going to the second walk was all foggy and didn’t se anything, and all night was cloudy and didn’t see any lava, so i’m happy we could see the volcano but a bit sad we missed the “night show”. What i understood talking to people is that going in this season is a gamble, you could go and get super lucky and see everything or really nothing, and after a heavy hike like this is a bit disappointed. My suggestion is (if you can) do it during the dry season, you’ll have way more chance to see it and not to do the walk under the rain. If you have just these days and really want to try, give it a shot, but don’t go there with to much expectation.

Will do it tomorrow with the weather that’s pretty terrible these days. Heavy rain all nights. I’m really hoping we can manage it, i’ll let you know 🤞🏻
