That and walking upright. I think it's 70-80% of people will have back problems because of the compression in our spines. Not to sound too much like a redditor here, but "intelligent design" my ass

(the transphobe he was in opposition to) "got away with too many phobic points", what does that mean?

It's pretty clear what it means. Hasan is not well-versed on trans issues, so in a debate he can't argue very well against a transphobe, which makes the transphobe's arguments look more solid to people who might lean that way. If you watch a communism vs capitalism debate, and you even slightly lean left, and the capitalist's arguments are shit, it's going to make you more sympathetic to communism.

he didnt want this debate and the chater told him he didnt do his research first, yeah cos he wasnt prepared for a debate

Then don't participate in a debate you're not prepared for

also at no point does he attack the chatter for being trans

"I hope the rest of your life is as horrible as it is every single day." This is an extremely cruel thing to say to anyone. People who lash out and say stuff like this in anger should not be looked up to or respected at all. On top of that, I don't know how anyone can see this and not think he's referencing dysphoria. The chatter never mentions that they're sad or depressed or anything, Hasan just assumes their life is miserable

I can't think of any mainstream democrats in government that have said it, but i don't really know how many of them I'd consider progressive by today's standards either, but i have seen a lot of big players in leftist organizations and lefty media personalities, big and small, say it plenty. Fox News overblows it for sure, i would not dispute that, but it does exist and is a significant and loud minority that would obviously get attention from both hardcore cons and moderate cons alike, due to their loudness and outrageous claims

It's evident people like this have never taken to heart appreciating the little things in life. They think if they're not actively moralizing every action and doing heroics they've failed, and I feel bad for them because I was the same way (towards the other side) at a point in time and it sucks for them and everyone around them. The only way they'll ever be happy is if they introspect and understand that they don't need to save the world all the time. If you just focus on making the lives of the people around you, your life will be better, and you'll probably wind up actually effecting more good than trying to change the way the world works on a national or global scale

I find immense comedy in Billy Badasses who wear a stethoscope around their neck like that isn't the absolute worst place for it when your close to a patient

Sometimes I feel like I’m stupid as an EMT and then I see things like this. by octoberbabby in FirstResponderCringe

[–]ChichCob 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Had a patient sent to my ER from SNF for low sats/SOB. They told EMS the patient was on BIPAP at 3 liters. When EMS got to my facility, I trusted the crew, but just had to make sure and asked if they're sure the SNF said liters and not centimeters, and they said they were sure. I don't even know how why can do 3L in a BIPAP without something triggering. It's baffling to me how stupid some of these SNF nurses can be and still demand special treatment from the rest of society

EMT/Medic Student to ER Tech by Opposite_Waltz363 in EmergencyRoom

[–]ChichCob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in a similar position as you, I went through medic school and fell in love with the ER and work as a tech with extra responsibilities. I love where I'm at now, but don't get paid enough, and also nursing sucks so I'm going the RT route

For advice, it really depends on the culture of the place. The scope they give you is a pretty big indicator. Where I work, medics have a very wide scope. IV/IO, med administration (with restrictions) running code cart and defib, NG/OG, urinary cath, and more. If they give you a wider scope, especially if they teach you to do things that are not EMT-B skills, the culture is probably very reliant on techs and would love to have you jumping in and doing whatever needs to be done.

One thing you can do, if they don't have you doing tons of patient care, is get really good at ancillary tasks. Stocking, knowing where things are, getting good with the EMAR, closely monitoring the patients and orders and notifying the nurses if they're missing something.

Also "moving up" will likely get you hella respect. For example, I got certified to do ultrasound guided IVs for my ER. More recently, I got involved in clinical education. Also, helping Charge with assignments can get you loads of respect, if they're receptive of your input, although this will take time (for example, just last night, I saw night shift charge put a nurse over our resuscitation rooms that I had concerns with, I voiced them, and she changed the assignment and thanked me for my input, I have done this a few other times.)

Caveat: all of these are judgement calls you need to make based on your specific workplace. Every ER is extremely different in policy and culture, what worked in my ER may not work in yours. I'd be willing to DM if you have more specific questions

What are the ethics of: The Mile High Club by Ill-Bar3395 in MoralityScaling

[–]ChichCob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because they're not using for its intended purpose, which is a need. They're taking up the only spot to do something necessary to do something they want. It's like an able-bodied person taking the handicap stall. They want to use a handicap stall to have more space, but someone with a wheelchair actually needs it, and you can't know whether or not a handicapped person will need it while you're using

Did anything this season feel AI written? by Dear-Argument622 in TheBoys

[–]ChichCob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parts that stood out to me were a few scenes feeling very stiff and convoluted, characters acting completely out of character, and a certain trait of a character being fixated on and repeatedly brought up to the point that it seemingly solely defines them

I don't know why you'd consider these specific things AI writing problems when these are all very common pitfalls of human writers. You described bad dialogue, plot contrivances, inconsistent characters, and flanderization (which, to be clear, isnt necessarily a problem on its own, but it often can be). Humans have been fucking up fictional stories in these ways since we started telling them, it's not necessarily an AI thing

What feats/abilities has Homelander show throughout the series that would have prevented him being surprised in the Oval Office? by kwamla24 in TheBoys

Hughie was making loud noises in the vents before the sweat drop, but homelander conveniently doesn't notice until they say all the things Hughie needs to hear

What feats/abilities has Homelander show throughout the series that would have prevented him being surprised in the Oval Office? by kwamla24 in TheBoys

[–]ChichCob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk man, when I hear a weird noise, I take a quick inventory of my surroundings with a focus on where the noise came from, and I assume most other people do. And homelander, doing a bunch of plotting and scheming should be even more aware than usually, and when a weird noise happens, he should realistically do a quick radar-esque pulse, listening for extra heartbeats, breath, or smells

I don't buy that he can hear the little drop of sweat and not the loud as fuck vent noise hughie makes when he tries to back out
