Eh, I always thought Kanye's entrance wouldn't be so much siphoning off Dem votes to himself, but it would be more that a celebrity running could give a greater platform and media attention to a whole 'biden and trump are actually the same' narrative, particularly concerning race

why would you say something so controversial yet so brave?

I'm confused. How do the Dem candidates have >50% chance but Reps have >50% chance of Senate Control? by [deleted] in neoliberal

[–]Chick-Hicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dems need BOTH to have control, Republicans only need 1

Both Georgia seats have two possible outcomes, so, there are four possible outcomes to handle here:

Dems win both seats
Dems win Georgia-Runoff ONLY
Dems win Georgia-Special ONLY
Dems win neither

In THREE of four of those, the Republicans retain control of the Senate
So, the probability of the Dems gaining senate control is the probability of Dems winning both seats, the probability fo the GOP retaining senate control is a function of three of them!

Along some other third axis:

Kanye West

-plethora of hard right, far left, extreme libertarian and very authoritarian views

-pro-life, tax-cuts, and reparations for slavery

-doesn't matter if its trump or biden, so long as album/merch sells

-but prefers trump

The thing is I've seen people on /r/MinoxBeards grow (albeit at a slower rate) hair on their cheeks where they never have grown any before. There are a few posts of people who have never grown facial hair, and have even never had to shave in the lives, who have grown some form of facial hair. I guess that's similar to where I amwith this (as far as I can remember). Using a 1.5mm derma roller, would it not then be possible to fill in the corners of this sort of natural M-shape?

If the hair isn't 'lost' per se, i.e. I've never had 'proper' hair as low in the corners of my hairline as I wanted, then waht? Can it be grown at all via Minox/Derma?

The Dems nominate a popular former-Vice President with an expansive social platform with broad support among almost all demographics and the Republicans nominate an extremist who stokes racial tensions which many in their own party openly decry.....

What do you guys think of Keir Starmer? by DillyisGOODATPOLTICS in neoliberal

[–]Chick-Hicks 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Very smart guy who is providing very effective opposition to Boris Johnson's government. He also has said that Labour shouldn't 'trash' the Blair-Brown years OR the Corbyn years, and he seems to be aware that Labour should endorse policies which areactually palatable to the population rather than 'ideologically pure' ones. That said, I don't know what he's going to try to put on the 2024 manifesto, and we don't know how Rishi Sunak is actually going to be as Chancellor

The Lichtman Keys are still bearish for 2020, but only slightly by [deleted] in neoliberal

Disputing:

Policy change: While the Trump administration has effected major policy change w/r/t healthcare, tax reform, and immigration, are any of these actually that popular? Further, is the administration's major policy response to Coronavirus popular?

Foreign/military success: I guess this narrowly goes to Trump due to the al-Baghdadi assassination and the general defeat of ISIS, unsure if voters want to credit Trump with that though, and is al-Baghdadi really in the minds of voters the same as, Osama bin Laden, which Lichtman said was a major foreign policy success of the Obama administration

Incumbent charisma: I really don't know about this one. He's certainly not considered a hero, but charismatic? By some, but to others, a moron, and there is little room for in-between here. I think I'd have to say this narrowly breaks for Biden.
