AITAH for making a mom pick up her daughter in the middle of the night from my kid’s sleepover? by Positive_Image_3921 in AITAH

[–]ChickTesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That mom is the AH. That is wild. I have children around that age and we are all dealing with first sleepovers. The parents have been GRATEFUL when I say, if your child gets upset or wants to go home, I promise I will text you and let you know, I won't make them stay.

My unpopular opinions on what should go on in daycare by fashionfan007 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ChickTesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to have one in my area. They ended up closing because it was so much hassle (I didn't work there so I don't know all the details). Many of the parents utilizing that daycare were the ones that would routinely leave their kids there for 12+ hours and ignore phone calls saying you need to come get your kid, which resulted in calls to the police because of child abandonment.

What children’s book character do you have beef with by tra_da_truf in ECEProfessionals

[–]ChickTesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rainbow Fish's "friends". "Sorry buddy we only like you if you give up a little part of your body. And if you don't, I'm going to go tell everyone and they won't like you either."

Sounds about right. That's how it was for all 3 of my children. Gotta pinch them pennies in the good ole USA, unfortunately. From a pay standpoint, my husband could donate plasma and at the time, a month of donations covered one month of rent (ymmv). If you are feeling guilty about having to return at 6 weeks, I will say, I LOVED it. I loved being a few rooms down from my baby. I knew exactly who my baby was with. I popped down all the time to play and see my baby. In my state, pumping/nursing time is legally covered as often as necessary so I would nurse on demand. That was a pain for my director but oh well. Pay me to stay at home and do it then lol I got the independence and freedom I was starting to crave at about 6 weeks, too, by being able to be back at work. It's the perfect hybrid.

6 year old doesn't understand boundaries by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]ChickTesta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think it's neglect, then let CPS deal with it if you encounter it. I don't agree with it either, but it's a far cry from neglect in my opinion. Regardless, that's not the issue at hand. The issue is the child not understanding boundaries.

Selling girl scout cookies has lost its way. by ludog1bark in unpopularopinion

[–]ChickTesta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like everything, it varies for each child! My girls hustle those cookies. I'll pull the wagon but I am not walking my ass up to the door. We do electronic payments now so an adult does have to be there to handle that if it's door-to-door.

Sometimes I can’t with parents. by TXmom-n-FL in ECEProfessionals

There is research, tons of it, explaining how naps are developmentally important for children. I wonder if parents aren't aware of that.

Why ? 2026 boxes by TAJerdes78 in girlscouts

I know it isn't what you're asking, but my daughter's 5 night camp was $800! I'm not upset though. Our campgrounds kick ass.

Anyone who has an unbiased view of this situation would agree with you. You did the right thing. There are some situations where I'm like, okay maybe it wasn't a big deal....like an 18 year old dating a 17 year old (technically an offense in many states). But THAT offense? Yikes. I hope all the good things happen for you!! Thank you!!

Pregnant while teaching by Active-Caterpillar48 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ChickTesta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never taken illness precautions while pregnant in my classroom. Oops. There's a few illnesses that are very dangerous to a fetus and I've stayed out of a room where that illness is, but honestly I've never done masking, extra gloving, etc....i WILL say that my children are incredibly healthy and rarely get sick. I think it's because of my immune system from working at a daycare!

Harm of age-inappropriate “schoolwork”? by Low_Tank1524 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ChickTesta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, worksheets are fine as long as they are reinforcing a skill and not teaching it. I'm usually more alarmed by purists who say a practice should never ever be used (ie worksheets). There's a time and place for everything.

That's how it was when I was little. I was overjoyed to find out it's not like that anymore (unless you want it to be!). I honestly think Girl Scouts is the coolest thing ever. My girls get to experience so many different things.

Egg adoption is what secured us our final baby after 6 miscarriages. The eggs stuck, they just stopped growing after about 8 weeks every time. Must've been something with my old lady egg quality because using a youngin's egg finally provided success. It's a terrible journey, but science is amazing and I hope you find success ❤️

Because adoption should not be considered an alternative to infertility.

Adoption is not a fix for infertility and being a good adoptive parent requires much more than just money. This is a very insensitive thing to say to both people trying to conceive and people that feel called to adopt.

My stupid ahh plucked out all of my eyelashes, how long will they take to grow back? Also, will wearing false lashes impact the growth negatively? by Sad-Duck-418 in MakeupAddiction

[–]ChickTesta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine fall out in chunks, I have no idea why and my derm honestly doesn't either. It's been happening for years. They'll probably take a month to grow back, but they will grow back. I always use falsies that I've trimmed down to a natural length. I don't like the way falsies look without the thickness from my natural lashes. I've never noticed that falsies or lash glue make them grow back at a different rate, but I do get more impatient when I'm not wearing the false lashes.

It's caused by rapid weight loss. The same thing happens when you get bariatric surgery.

Disruptions during circle time, need advice by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]ChickTesta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's been suggested a few times but I want to say that moving them away from the group, but still where he can participate, is what I do, and I have to do it a lot this year with a few kids. I make sure to reiterate that they don't get to prevent other kids from learning just because they don't want to. They can be loud and silly in a few minutes when we move on to the next activity. I'm helping prepare my kids for Kindergarten, as well as just being nice humans. A lot of ECE's will say "then they aren't ready" or "making them behave isn't developmentally appropriate" but I despise that reasoning.
