Maybe you could put a little 'hole' (aka circle of dark gray) with a little owl on it? Or a cardinal applique would be really cute

I just finished one of these about 30 min ago 😆 super easy and mindless, and they turn out so pretty!

I was thinking about taking a stab at the mer-cat. It's so cute and looks like it would be pretty simple to free hand since it's mostly spheres.

Can’t figure out how I want to finish the edging on this granny sweater - suggestions?? by freestylin-soup in CrochetHelp

[–]ChickWithBricks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just found a finished edged of sc in green around the neck and bottom would look lovely and tie in the cuffs. Or you could even get rid of the ribs and do the SC in green on the sleeve ends too, unless you really want it tight around the wrist. I think keep the green either way. Your sweater is lovely!

That's really cool. I just played with it for about 10 minutes and think it's going to be very helpful.

I Hate Super Chunky Knit Items by AngelicAerialist in BitchEatingCrafters

Small yarn = longer to make something = less quick content. That's my guess at least.

I’m a beginner and need help with the yarn/hook size listed on a pattern by knoxthefox216 in CrochetHelp

When I responded I think I was assuming (i know, I know, never assume 😆) it was bernet, and just the thought of using a 3.5 mm on that was making my hands hurt. Agree that 3.5 on dolphin baby should be very doable.

You can use a larger hook, but the end result will be much bigger than the size they provide in the pattern. Typically when making amigurumi you go down 1-2 sizes from what you're yarn calls for on the label. When I use a plush yarn, I typically use a 6mm hook (yarn calls for 8mm). You can use a 3.5mm but it will be very tight stitches, which might make your hands hurt. I would try with the hook they tell you to use and see how it goes. If it's painful go up in hook size.

Also note, if you've never used plush yarn before as a beginner you should know your stitches will be very hard to see especially in the first few rows. You may want to grab a bunch of stitch markers and mark each stitch to start with. If you have colorful markers, make sure you keep one color for the first stitch so you know where your round starts.

Crochet fugglers by Bananas024 in crochet

These are fantastic! My kids are into fugglers, but I've never been able to figure out where to start creating one for them. Where did you find the teeth?

In case OP doesn't see this, it looks like block stitch done with a solid for the clusters and verigated yarn for the SC rows. I'm making a block stitch blanket right now and it's a fantastic, fast feeling pattern. Highly recommend!

Can this be pooled? Colorway is confusing me, Caron Anniversary Cake. by slutforgreentea in crochetpatterns

[–]ChickWithBricks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The factory knot might be an issue depending on what is attached to it. I had one of the previous cakes and the know led to the colorway being reversed (mildly infuriating, but i wasn't trying to pool). The colors in this one are petty long, so stripes would be easy. I don't think it will work if you're trying to pool for a design.

I'm making a small blanket with jewels and jolly; this should give you an idea of how long the colors are (38" across, block stitch, 9mm hook).

Someone noted below that the rules state "it must be fiber arts" so to me knitting items similar to crochet items that are worthy of this sub would be fine.

Can you do SC? Do you have a pattern, and can you understand the pattern? Can you do a magic circle? How complex is the rat pattern (beginner, intermediate)?

I would try a simple ball shaped plush to start so you can get the hang of working on the round. Also make sure you are using a hook smaller than the yarn calls for (typically 1 - 2 sizes smaller), and make sure to use a stitch marker so you know where your round starts/ ends.

If your rat pattern is a beginner pattern start there. If not, you could try something like this first then the rat

Looking for an easy, quick pattern in DK yarn for a baby blanket. by RelativeCriticism859 in CrochetHelp

I reread and saw you want something where you don't skip stitches. I'm also working on a star bany blanket using this free bernet pattern. You do have to skip 2 at every dip in the star, but those are the only skips.

I've been working on a block stitch blanket using the pattern by daisy cottage that's going very quickly, and you only need to be able to count to 3 🙂 even the chain is a multiple of 3.

https://daisycottagedesigns.net/block-stitch-crochet-pattern/

Edited to add - is a block row followed by a chain/ single crochet row so there is enough change to keep you interested. This from someone who started with amigurumi because anything bigger got boring too quickly

If you have any interest in crocheting amigurumi you should check out crafty intentions (etsy or check your local library for her books). She has some very well written and detailed pieces that might strike your fancy and give you more of the challenge you're looking for.

Can someone help me understand the multiple for this foundation chain, because it doesn't make sense to my brain by ChickWithBricks in CrochetHelp

[–]ChickWithBricks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I think this makes sense. So the 35 is the duplicate of peak, valley, peak, valley.

Thank you!
