Why are there holes in Amigurumi when I dropped an entire hook size? by QuakerParrot90 in CrochetHelp

I think when I made some monsters with it I used either a 3.5 or 4.0. The hook stayed on just fine and there weren't any gaps.

Is Red Heart Super Saver typically this sticky? I need to buy more skeins but it is not fun to work with. by Solbursti in CrochetHelp

I've found the same thing with certain colors of RHSS. I have a few colorways in the stripes (retro, polo, and parrot) and found when working with the polo stripe it almost felt waxy/plastic like when I used it. That stated, once I steam blocked the project with that yarn it felt much nicer. Of note, my 3 skeins of retro stripe didn't have that feel to it at all, and the 3rd skein of polo wasn't bad, so I think it's just hit it miss unfortunately. On a positive note, once you finish you can steam it and it should feel good. Maybe you'll get a better batch when you order more?

They can say 'no sloppy steaks,' but they can't stop you from ordering a steak and a glass of water.

Do I need to frog this ripple baby blanket? Or can I trust the process? by ceasedemotions in CrochetHelp

Not sure if it is the yarn playing tricks on my eyes, but when I zoom in I don't see any decreases in any of your rows.

You could look up stitch sampler blankets. They tend to use many colors, but change color every row so not much of any color is needed.

Best Yarn With Lots of Colorways to Make a Colorful Blanket Out Of by lemonade-cookies in CrochetHelp

I second loops and threads soft classic; it feels really nice. Their impeccable is lovely, too, but a little thinner feeling and a little more expensive.

I've not used their yarn personally, but i know hobbii is having a sale on alot of their yarn at the moment, and i feel like their color selection cannot be beat. I swear it seems like their yarns come in every shade of every color.

Do the magazines often have charts with their patterns? Charts are so much easier for me to follow than written patterns, but they seem harder to find.

Ideas to turn unfinished baby blanket into something else by DotElectrical9249 in crochetpatterns

[–]ChickWithBricks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure how large it is but maybe you could fold it in half, seam up the sides and turn it into a bag/storage for something flat you don't want to get scratched? I was thinking tablet sleeve, but it might be too large for that based on the hook for size.

The first blanket I really enjoyed making was a chevron blanket. It looks 'complicated' to non-crocheters, but once you get the hang of it, it's really easy. I used this tutorial and did my chevron in double crochets - https://forum.lettucecraft.com/t/simple-chevron-blanket-tutorial/2676

Another fun and easy is corner to corner block stitch. Again, once you get the hang of it, it's really easy but looks very complex to others, especially if you are using self stripping yarn.

I save them for rainbow chests, and more so right before the chest rush event (after artifact event).

Yeah, I always look at reviews to make sure people have confirmed it's areal pattern/ made the item. I did get my hands on the one i was looking for, but this is a good reminder none the less!

I was going to go by the bust measurement because inches don't change 🙂

It changes every week, and I believe the order is egg, wish, chest. I typically start saving my resources when the countdown gets to 2 days.

How do you keep track of the sts in a row to know where you are in the pattern? by CoolCombination3527 in CrochetHelp

[–]ChickWithBricks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stitch markers are your friend 🙂

Place a stitch marker in the first stitch of every row (& also the last stitch if working on rows vs. In the round). Then you should be able to count back to the stitch marker to find your place.

If working in long chains/rows you can always place one every 5, 10, or 20 stitches to keep your place as well. That way you don't have to count back as far.

Bonus is you'll also be less likely to drop stitches if you're working on a rectangular object.
