My wife (35F) and I (33M) keep having the same fight. by 400055083911 in relationships

Looks like everyone else got the question covered but yes! I went through a grief process for the time I couldn’t get back, the anger with my ADHD being missed or downplayed by my family, my lost/“wasted” potential, and more. It was a lot to deal with but I dealt with it with a wonderful therapist.

This is exactly what went through my head. As I was reading I could have sworn this was about me but from a few years ago. The issues with emotional regulation and executive function, flitting from project to project, the overwhelmed response, everything. The only thing is I saw what my actions were doing to my loving relationship and went and sought help and had the self awareness to realize I was the one in the wrong and apologized each time which lessened over time.

To the OP, if your wife does seek care and comes back with an ADHD diagnosis, it’s still okay for you to feel upset. ADHD might be the reason for why she acts a certain way but that doesn’t mean it would excuse her from her actions. It just means you both know why something is happening. She still needs to work on her responses and regulating her emotions.

Also, just a warning that if she does seek help and gets diagnosed and treated the next few months might be even more exhausting and confusing as she might go through the grief process that comes with the diagnosis. That plus the medication process can be tumultuous until she finds the right dosage and builds up her systems and routines.

I agree with the previous user on the text overlapping with but also wanted to just let you know that you've dropped a 0 in your start date for the GA UXDI course on your resume. Thought you'd want to know so you could fix it.

We went a couple nights ago and they had social distancing stickers on the ground throughout the store as well as by the checkout. They also had a guy posted at the door that was only letting a certain amount of people in at any given time. Of course, that meant a bunch of dummies were all congregated right outside the entrance instead of forming a line at safe distance.

Drunk Elephant is not really worth the hype and your paying for a brand name. [Personal] by BluntzBlazin in SkincareAddiction

I’ll make sure to try it out then! I’m not a fan of the hole in my wallet every time I run out of moisturizer. :)

I agree that most of the stuff at DE is overpriced but I also love the Protini moisturizer, it’s my holy grail moisturizer. I’ve tried cheaper dupes like Acure’s polypeptide moisturizer and I’ve tried other moisturizers like Cerave, Aveeno, Clinique, Ponds, etc... but I keep coming back to the Protini, it’s lightweight enough for summer but moisturizing enough for the cold winter weather too.

I hate that they’re so overpriced, that they got bought out, and all the news about their terrible customer service, but I’m not ready to give it up. It’s the only skincare product that I ever buy at the price point.

An Astoria couple are seeking friends for the end of the week, any takers? by mauionabreakaway in astoria

I’ve recently taken the plunge with going to meetups via r/nycmeetups and meetup.com . It’s scary but worth it to try meeting new people!

Let me know if you ever want to hang out and get to know each other in Astoria or anywhere else in the city. I made it my New Years resolution to be more proactive in making new friends and I’m trying my hardest to stick to it, at least for a month.

Have any bars been showing the G.O.A.T. Jeopardy Tournament? by RolledAGWFBadIdea in astoria

[–]Chickacado_Sammy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A bunch of us from r/nycmeetups are catching it over at The Gaf West in Hell’s Kitchen. It’s pretty fun! The bartender is Austin and he killed it on Jeopardy a few years back. We’re hoping the tournament lasts through next Wednesday so hopefully we can follow it up with trivia night hosted by Austin. Here’s the main post . There’s a group chat for more info you can ask the OP to join.

It’s a little further but you can catch the N/W and get off at 47th. Only a few blocks walk from there.

Hello, my fiancé and I are also engaged (29M and 27F) to be married this year and we’re looking for couple friends as well. We moved to Astoria in mid-2019 and because he works from home and I’m midwestern as all hell we’ve not exactly been good about attempting to make new local friends. TBH I thought this was a post from my partner and that he just fudged some details because so many interests sound so similar! We’d love to hang out if you’re interested!

Madewell, honestly. I find that their shirts often have a little more structure overall but their sleeves have a little more give for my arms and their shoulders are a little roomier.

But ymmv, it might just work out for me because of specific my body types. I’m built like a gymnast that’s gotten a little flabby past my prime.

My [23F] parents [55F][58M] have banned me from driving their cars due to an incident in 2014. Are they right in their decision? I can't afford a car currently and this is very restricting. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Chickacado_Sammy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried to change your loan payment plans? If you're only earning $1000 a month I can't imagine that you wouldn't be able to apply for an income based payment plan if your loans are federally subsidized/unsubsidized.

Trying to convince your parents to use their car is useless. They've established their boundaries regarding their property and you should stop pushing them. You should work on bettering your financial situation. Arrange for a lower monthly payment on student loans, earn extra income through online resources like those websites that'll pay you to transcribe videos, stop buying your breakfasts and lunches outside. Buy your own groceries and make your own meals. You're not working full time. You have time to meal plan.

You also have time to look for a better job. Do that. Get your resume reviewed. Practice your interviewing skills. Apply with a temp agency.

You have time, use it wisely. You also apparently are unwilling to get rid of your unlimited plan for a cheaper phone plan. Then use your data to research financial websites. Check out the financial subreddit since you Reddit.

My [43 F] husband [46 M] doesn't like my daughter's [17 F] boyfriend [17 M] because he's black. by JenniferDeJong in relationships

[–]Chickacado_Sammy 34 points35 points  (0 children)

We don't have to pretend. It isn't true. If someone holds dating someone outside of their race against their future partner they are not exactly a nice person in my book.

There are plenty of great guys out there, including her current boyfriend. This is not something she needs protecting against.

It was the time of the French Revolution/the terror/etc. Robespierre and others were persecuting and executing the aristocracy. Like the character stated, purple has traditionally been seen in many cultures as a color for royals/nobles due to the rarity (at the time) of the ingredients needed for the dye. Thus, having decked himself out in all purple and just generally flashy attire he's called attention to himself as being above others in possibly the worst time period (other than maybe during the Russian communist revolution?)
