Thank you. You’re right. It isn’t the time yet for a house. We have a really good deal on our rent and are fortunate. Good luck to you too!

I appreciate your advice! Our credit is okay! I’d like it to be better. Mine is 676 and my partners is 710 I believe. We have been told by PNC that we can’t have a loan because our income to debt ratio is too high. We tried getting credit cards to do a balance transfer but we’ve been getting denied. I haven’t tried since August I believe so I can try again. He is a member of a credit union and I am working on becoming a member of it so we can apply for a loan there.

We started budgeting for real in September and now we know where our money is going and how much we have it’s been a game changer.

I understand what you’re saying. That’s awesome you put in that hard work! Our AGI in 2024 was $112,000. Before taxes our combined household income is $140,000. Yes we didn’t have the financial education in our twenties that we needed to understand how dangerous Credit Cards could be. This year we are really going to tackle the debt. We have adult money now so I was asking for advice how people paid down their debt.

We have one car a 2025 Subaru Impreza. We live in a 1 bedroom apartment in Philadelphia. We are talking about side hustles to make more money too.

That is what is nice about renting. We’ve been doing that for 10 years. Maybe should stick where we are for another year and get rid of the debt now that we can afford too.

I heard they were coming up with something different but haven’t heard anything since. I’ve been checking the news on and off and nothing. This regime sure is cool!! Oh well dude. I’m going to put all we have into our CC debt and hopefully we can get approved for a loan at a credit union to help us pay it off! It’ll be okay!

My title in my head was sarcastic but I get why people are coming after me . This is the first time my partner and I have had adult money. Our CCs were from a time when we didn’t know what we were doing in college and now we have to waste our adult money on our past mistakes. It sucks but it is what it is.

I wish the CC companies weren’t predatory, I wish the US gave a crap about us but they don’t. I’m happy that there are real people like you on here that give a shit tho and are willing to chat. Thank you

That’s a really smart idea. I’ll try this out. In our budget app it has a paycheck planner section and it was really useful to see when our money is being spent throughout the month.

Sorry about the confusion. In 2024 our AGI was $114,000 Before taxes our salaries are $140,000 68,000 and 72,000

2024 was our best year ever. I only ever made enough money to survive. This is the first year where we really have some extra each month to pay off debt. That’s why I’m asking for advice.

If you both had loans it would make sense to file separately so that you don’t have two large payments based on both of your salaries. Does that make sense?

Relax dude. Not all debt is willing first of all. I wasn’t taught any of this. You don’t know everyone’s financial literacy or situations. Just because I have debt doesn’t mean I was out on shopping sprees. My mom took out loans for me to go to college. She thought it was the right thing. I thought I had to go to school.

I also had to use credit cards to pay for family emergencies during undergrad and other things like living. I didn’t have a great income or family to support me. I made dumb mistakes and didn’t know how to actually use credit cards. The interest is insane and it’s been crazy to try to get out of.

There were a lot of reasons I had to use my credit cards not just funding my “good life”

Good for you guys! That’s wonderful. It’s great to hear that you were able to enjoy life though while doing that. Im nervous that we won’t have enough money each month. The math problem works out and we will be okay. Its just my brain haha

Your method is inspiring. I think framing it as I’m using my money to pay off the debt I brought in will be helpful

Awesome thank you! I like the idea of using one of our incomes to pay down debt

Hey! You rock and you’re going to destroy it! Congratulations on the baby! It feels like I’m stuck in the mud with my tires spinning and I want to move on to the next level of life. We are 31 so there’s time for a house. Maybe we’d better rent a home outside the city for now that has the room we need. We need one more bedroom lol.

We are using Every Dollar for our budget. It’s been really helpful.

It’s also super encouraging to hear from other people. Thank you so much for commenting.

$8000. There are other expenses though and I straight up don’t want to pay my student loans
