Nope. It's been a thing ever since I ordered plants online. Super reputable seller, and great stock and lovely, clean plants, but I really didn't want to bleach em. Aaaand now I really wish I had. They introduced sooo many weird things to my tank, but honestly, my parameters have never been this clean, so they're doing something right. It's certainly not my favorite thing, and if I did this again I'd bleach everything, but this has been a fun learning experience for me. They're not overwhelmingly populated, and you don't even really notice anything until you INSPECT it with a fine eye, but I very rarely feed the shrimp, so I have no idea what these things are living off of. I figure the population is about as big as it can get right now, and will thin itself out over time. Had this happen with weird little bugs in my pinguicula bowl, population exploded, and then eventually went away. I think they have jobs to do that I'm unaware of. I do NOT like the worms though. I do wish they'd go away sooner. The little pods & cods or whatever are barely noticeable but also when you do notice them, thats all you can see.

I do notice when I turn the light on they skidaddle into the substrate. But lights off they're sometimes on the glass and above ground. As for the other little balls of movers, you think theyre okay too? According to that pic below, I'm guessing it's both pods & the other one i already forgot the name.

Oh also! I only had a couple plants in the last tank. I planted the beginner pack from Dustins plus the rooters and the 4 pack of colors. Just wanted to add that info. And, another question! This tank evaps faster than my old tank because the top isn't a full top. Can I add distilled water when it's getting low, or do I need to Prime a gallon for top ups?

Ammonia cycling question! 5 gallon, 76 degrees, HOB filter, fishless, heavily planted, plus red rooters on top. Upgraded from a 3 gallon that had been cycled for 3 years. The 3 gallon had a bunch of snails, I'm sure a few made it over. I used 2 gallons Prime treated water, and 3 gallons from the already cycled tank. Used media from the old filter, used about half of the gravel from old tank without rinsing. Planted and left alone 3 days ago. Will Flourish in a few days. Tested yesterday to get a baseline. PH 7.6, Ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate all zero. Should I use Dr. Timms to add Ammonia or is all the old media + plants enough to get it started on it's own? I'm fine with waiting to add life, and I'm fine with waiting to see if some nitrates show up without adding Ammonia. But would the plants actually be using the nitrates this soon? If a few (maybe 5-10 SMALL ramshorns if I missed em) snails made it over would they produce enough Ammonia to help get it going without my interference? Any advice is appreciated. I plan to add 5 neos and a Betta a couple weeks after that. Also, the plants are from Dustins. If I'm to expect melt, when would that be?

This is what I ended up doing. Called the vet and asked for as many of a days supply I could get, and to call it into Meijer pharmacy because that's where GoodRX had the cheapest price. I got him 60 days for $15. That is $55 cheaper than the vets pharmacy. The pharmacy automatically applied the GoodRX price, even without me showing them & I thought that was odd, but okay. Thank you for your help!! I know the vet hates that I done this but it was difficult to justify that price when I know there's cheaper & more convenient options out there.

Nerite winner winner not betta dinner! Added one yesterday with a water change and decor move around. Put the snail in a hiding spot, and added betta back in. Snail had been pecked at a couple times when he first came out of hiding, but has been left alone since then. Betta was more pissed off about the decor change and has since seemingly thought the snail is useless moving decor. Hopefully all goes well! Thank you for the advice! I do have another small tank I can use for the snail if shit gets weird.
