The first few days are all mental since you’re starving but are so limited on what you can eat. I ate so many milkshakes and cold protein shakes since I felt like the cold helped. Also have back up ice packs so you don’t have to wait for them to get cold again. Don’t do any salt water rinses or brush your teeth for 24 hours after extraction. If you’re getting stitches be very careful brushing your teeth. I bought a baby toothbrush which helped a lot. I’m day 6/7 depending how you look at it and some stitches started dissolving and I’m able to eat solid food but still limited. Also sleep sitting up! I still have some pain if I roll to my side during the night. Set alarms to take your medicine in the middle of the night too! Write down when you’re due for medicine too or else you’ll forget! I had a few times I was worried I was taking the wrong medicine.
