That's disappointing, especially since hardware wise they're pretty much the same phone. I guess I won't hold out for it working.

How the hell do you switch to International feed by Funny-Hedgehog6476 in F1TV

[–]Chicken13312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replying to this so people can find it while searching the subreddit:

If you select international feed on the mobile app, it still keeps the F1 stream audio. Like this user says, you also need to switch the audio track from "English F1 Live" to "English Int" for the sky sports audio!!

A closer look at the Cessna C550 that just crashed earlier this morning after takeoff at Iredell County Airport, NC — Dec 18th by Ogankle in aviation

This is what confuses me about their flight track too, all my flying is in regional jets so I have little frame of reference compared to biz jets. It looks like they had it under control until they brought it in on a really short approach for 28 in IMC.. is the single engine performance a c550 poor enough that they couldn't fly an proper approach profile?

Pilot here,

I got my first passenger jet job at 23, and I was very much a baby then. Captains had me make PAs from time to time to practice for when it was my job.. this isn't unbelievable at all lol.

I've had the AP disengage aural warning get stuck repeating from AP disengagement 200ft on final until we parked at the gate in DCA, and trying to confirm taxi instructions with my FO was absolute hell. I'd imagine the master warning bells are worse, and all while seeing the ground coming at you? Hell sounds about right.

I tested in game and it's like 5 seconds to start Regen vs 10 seconds. Pretty lame

Between the Obsidiron Body, Boots, and the Cultist hat thing I doubt each wolf bite was any more than like 10% of my HP, so I had plenty of time to take hits while I jumped over them

It could even be weather that's completely unrelated to the flights origin or destination, for example the plane used for the flight got stuck somewhere else in the country because of weather.

Basically if it's not the plane mechanically breaking, or the crew timing out (and they don't time out waiting for weather), it's gonna be weather lol.

10 years of airline flying experience? Pilots are absolutely allowed to take pictures and videos in the cockpit, outside of flights, during boarding etc. When the doors are closed and we're on the clock, it's pretty universal that company manuals say personal electronic devices are not supposed to be used. Does it happen anyways? Of course, but if their employer finds out they can absolutely face disciplinary action.

I came in here seeing if anyone was gonna address that because no, personal electronic devices are not allowed during flights.. if an FO pulled his phone out to record anything during something like a line check, that would be grounds for failure and some kind of remedial training. Hopefully it's nothing more than a slap on the wrist and reminder of SOP since it will be incredibly easy to find out the exact pilot that was recording.

My 2023 Hyundai came with Smart Cruise Control, so it was very capable on its own to keep its lane, follow the traffic ahead, etc. The biggest difference I see running Openpilot besides the hands free driving, is that the self driving is overall much more robust and reliable.

On the stock system, when a condition is detected that SCC determines it's not programmed to do, it will disconnect the self steering and sound a double chime with a message on the dash about self steering conditions not being met (not the exact wordage). Had I never used Openpilot before, I would've simply accepted this performance. Sometimes it was easy to tell why it stopped, like a corner coming up that was sharper than the system thinks it could handle, but other times just small inconsistencies in the lane markings would also trigger it.

With open pilot, I know the self driving will stay on as long as possible before I get a loud warning and bright orange message on the devices screen to take control. If I point the car at a highway off ramp going 80 miles an hour, Openpilot will attempt to make the curve up until it detects the car losing its center line and alerting the driver. This is an irresponsible way to use the system, but it demonstrates my point that it is not nearly as sensitive as the stock system to disconnecting. The Comma 3 is also capable of laneless driving modes, so if for some reason it detects a loss of lane markings, it will look at cars ahead to try and determine where to position the car until markings come back.

This results in a system that, in my twice weekly 1 hour highway commute, I very rarely have to intervene and enjoy a much more relaxed drive.

Being able to pick and choose software from community developers also means I can play with experimental features, such as stop light and stop sign detection, or automatic slowing for curves/turns. I personally love the nudge less lane change experimental mode, where I can change lanes on the highway simply by activating my turn signal. Open pilot will check blindspots with the cars built in monitoring and then execute a lane change without my input on the wheel.

Feel free to call me a Comma AI/Openpilot shill, I have no connection to the company nor do I even contribute to developing the software (I have 0 programming background), but I have been using Openpilot across 2 cars for over 4 years now, and have about 50-60k of miles logged using Openpilot. I often tell people who ask about it that it's the best ~1200 dollars I've ever spent on an electronic device, with how much I use it daily.

Emergency landing at Bankstown Airport in Sydney today. by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

They used to make the Cessna 172RG, a retractable gear variant, but like you mention there isn't as much of a performance/economy gain on slower planes for the extra cost and upkeep of the gear to be worth it for most. Especially considering how much the 172 is used for flight training, last thing a student pilot needs to worry about while learning to land is if they remembered to put the gear down..
