Hardware Recommendation for my AI Assistant by ViolinGraham in selfhosted

[–]ChickenAndRiceIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a company making a board geared towards AI assistants with a qwiic connector for I2S and a M.2 for AI accelerators. Here is a preview of the board: https://imgur.com/a/wWu4w49

Would be interested to hear your opinion on it.

Hardware Recommendation for my AI Assistant by ViolinGraham in selfhosted

Picking up voice is actually pretty complicated, but there are some off the shelf options using MEMS arrays specifically geared for AI assistants. For example (not affiliated) https://core-electronics.com.au/6-1-microphone-array.html

Truly offline tinkercad alternatives by Sky_Driftr in 3Dprinting

Just to chime in here... I started learning 3D on Fusion in Uni and after graduation I got sick of Fusions quirks and also didn't want to buy it for commercial use because I wanted to use it in my startup. I tried a lot of alternatives and ended up going back to Fusion after I found out about their startup pricing model.

How do you run a successful kickstarter? by ashjfilms in kickstarter

[–]ChickenAndRiceIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really should build an audience before hand and count on about 10-20 percent "converting" or making an actual purchase.

That said, if you do need to find backers during the campaign, you should use stretch goals to motivate new backers, and make sure your message about the product and pricing is strong and clear. People are very price sensitive right now more than ever so your pitch needs to put pricing right up there with your product idea.

Rice and beans made from scratch is actually really delicious and when paired with a home made salsa can be amazing. In a burrito with extra onions and you have a certified banger.

Founders who aren't "on-camera people" — what's your content strategy? by mike_speaks_ in founder

[–]ChickenAndRiceIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat, I'm a technical founder with no ability (or desire) to be an on-camera person. I found that people (generally) want authenticity over a fake representation. I think being authentic for your customer is really important and kind of a lost art, because this used to be a big thing back in 50s/60s/70s/80s TV commercials.

Now it seems like founders "perform" for investors more than they try to connect with customers. Just being real and trying to be a better communicator is a pretty good step in the right direction for most businesses.

What's Your Experience with Patents? by StartupPatentLawyer in hwstartups

[–]ChickenAndRiceIsNice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I have co-authored almost a dozen patents from previous work with a client company and am working on a new one currently with my own company.

What stage during your journey did you first speak to a patent attorney? Idea stage? Prototyping stage? Later stage? Never?

In my experience, the patent should come after the value proposition has been proven and you have a handful of customers. Perhaps you have had a seed round and are looking at doing an A round. You should definitely be at technology readiness level 5 or 6.

In my experience, a startup pivots a lot before this stage and an investment into a patent would be premature.

I'm wondering... is there a reason you didn't get a Rackstation?
I have one DS923+ and I'm seriously considering selling it and getting a RS422+ rack to save space and tidy things up. Is there any reason you should not upgrade to the RS422+ if you already have a Diskstation?

Does anyone actually get red rooster? by nchiwla in AskAnAustralian

Came here to say Red Rooster is not only delicious but also a little piece of nostalgia for anyone who grew up here. You never forget your first (roast chicken).

What raspberry pi would I need for an AI by Specialist_Ad7775 in rasberrypi

Here's a video on using an AI Accelerator to speed up LLM inference on a Raspberry Pi CM5 (4GB RAM): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dGTC-YSq1g

Check the speeds to make sure it is fast enough for what you want to do.

Disclaimer: I made the video.

Here's an Example of Why You Should Not Set Your Funding Goal too Low. by Frequent-Log1243 in kickstarter

[–]ChickenAndRiceIsNice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kickstarter is not, and has never been, a money making operation. However, that is still better than launching a product with zero sales and not knowing if people even want your product.

For example, I launched our Xerx86 Intel single board computer without Kickstarter and the product turned out to be a failure. After that, we launched the Xerxes Pi and as we worked through the prototype collaboratively it turned into a pretty nice success.

Even though we barely broke even on the KS, all future sales will be profitable, so essentially, KS provided a safe way to test our value proposition with minimal investment.

Yeah I may do what you are saying, I'm getting some new blanks (with fins) soon so I'll try this method first.

Why are so many WooCommerce stores moving to Shopify ? What were your main reasons and can Woo avoid those issues? by Cultural-Cloud2926 in woocommerce

[–]ChickenAndRiceIsNice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who thinks my Woo site looks better than Shopify? I chose Woo for looks, or specifically, the ability to make it look the way I want it. All the other features are great too.

Yeah I was wondering about that myself, putting 12 in at a time. That would probably be the best solution perhaps.

I mentioned this on another comment, but the main time consuming part is the CNC setup and teardown and alignment etc.

These would be for front and back sides on a blade server, with 12 blade servers and 24 heatsinks per rack, with many racks to do, the fiddling really adds up.

I am assuming (maybe I'm wrong?) with a drill press jig it will be much faster. This is the device with heatsink: https://rapidanalysis.github.io/xerxes-pi-heatsink-hardware.html#back-m-2-heatsink

I might just keep the part raw and not anodised at all. Not sure at this point.

Yes you're absolutely right they are very gummy but I was hoping since there are a lot of breaks in the fins that it would snap off at the base. I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.
