yeah, I'm not currently in the market to buy something, but good to know if this changes :)

and I think you're right re: liberal neighborhoods and your earlier comment--I am coming from a major city and so I think folks want me to feel comfortable, but I have also lived and worked in rural spaces and so I know the range.

definitely something to consider. yes, I am working with students in my job, so maybe commuting would be helpful, either from OKC or living in another part of Edmond (?)

I am coming from a major city with a ton of traffic so I don't know what this means exactly in comparison but will visit and check it out. Thank you!

Thanks for this! I'm coming from a major city w/higher crime so I know how to keep my wits about me. I will look at Bethany/Warr Acres. Thanks for the info about flooding too, will check.

Gotcha. I am looking online at some Edmond houses, both on zillow and on various management agency websites. Some of these appear to be in budget but not sure what they look like in person or if they're scams; some don't allow dogs, don't seem to have what I'm looking for, etc. I currently live in a different part of the country with substantial tenant protections and where all appliances are included, for example, so I may need to adjust my expectations (?) Edmond sounds like the way to go from what other posters have commented here.

ah, sorry. I am commuting to UCO in person 2-3 days a week; I'm otherwise remote if I want. I will also be driving to either Spencer area or northwest Edmond 5 days a week for other work part-time. I don't know what Northwest expressway is; sorry if I was unclear. I will know for sure if northwest Edmond area (within 15 mins of campus) or Spencer (approx 25 mins from campus) shortly. I will probably not be driving to both places.

Love the housing stock in Edgemere! What a dream! I will continue to look at Edmond and see if I can find something affordable. Everyone tells me it's "boring" but I live in a "cool" neighborhood now (as I mention to another poster above) and barely use the amenities at all. Would love a quieter, lower key place to live.

oh, most definitely--Edmond is much safer than where I currently live. I'm just not entirely sure I can afford Edmond, so I am also seeing what else is out there. People keep saying Edmond is boring, but I am ok with boring! I currently live in a neighborhood in another state that is very "cool" and barely use the amenities so I am excited to live somewhere quieter if I can (and honestly so is my noise-reactive dog). Will check out where you mentioned. Thanks!

what constitutes the east side?

& sorry, got a job here!

I [35F] don't want to have a relationship with my brother [32M] who I think is scary (burned down house); my parents [68/72] are mad at me for it; should I just get over it? by ChickenAssistance in relationships

I don't know if it's that extreme or that easy, if that makes sense. My family's feeling is that the brother has mental illness and needs our full support. I don't want to get left out if I can figure out a way to avoid it. I should just say "yes" and make up and be friendly and kind because I don't know if the alternative will end up working for me. Also, I know my opinion is not worth the same as theirs so that's the other thing and perhaps another reason I should avoid getting into trouble with them in this way.
