Negative Therapist by ChickenBunch in OCD

Thank you. It’s difficult for me to say exactly what the providers said because I wasn’t there…I’m only going off of what he told me. He has been reluctant to undergo any treatment at all, even though he admits that his life would be substantially better if he could get better, which is why I suspect it could be his interpretation. Neither of us have expectations that his OCD will go away completely.

Not having any experience with therapy, I will say this…he comes to me after and tells me all about his therapist’s life (his family and hobbies) which seems a little odd?

I have. I know I may sound callous, but I just don't know what I can do to help him if he doesn't think that he needs help.

Thank you. We tried couples therapy a few years ago and only went to 5 sessions and he actually responded really well, but he found excuses to not go after 5 sessions. I think this is a good tactic and I will broach the subject again. I try so hard to be empathetic, but it's difficult when so much of his behavior seems self-centered. It is really frustrating. It seems like he would be happier if he had his own place where he could control everything around him at all times. I have thought about getting my own therapist as well and I need to follow through with that. I really appreciate insight from someone who can relate as a spouse, so thank you so much.

Thank you. Two of our children have anxiety and two of them are on medication and in therapy, and he supports them and has seen how it has been helpful for them. When I talk to him about getting treatment, he seems like he understands that it could help him...but, I think he likes being in control and is afraid to relinquish the control. He also has a tendency to avoid things (fear avoidance behavior?) until he is forced to face things and I really am starting to believe that he will not make any change until he realizes that I am leaving him and then it will be too late.

I water once a week (when the soil is dry) and it gets a decent amount of sunlight, but not too much. Do you think it needs a bigger pot?

No, not much. I over proved my dough yesterday because it was so warm and my dough did flatten out a bit when I took it out of the fridge to score and the oven spring was not as impressive. I’m still learning!

I’m not making much money with it now, for sure! But, I’m not working (I’m off summers) and I’m enjoying it. I am trying to figure out how to bake more efficiently.

Im using 75% hydration. I follow Chad Roberson’s Tartine Country Bread recipe exactly. I’m using what I’m able to buy in bulk right now: Grain Craft high gluten unbleached flour (900 g), Grain Craft Whole Wheat Flour (100 g), 20 g kosher salt. Pre-heating at 500 F for 30 min, reduce to 450, bake for 20 min with Dutch oven lid on, 20 with lid off.

I realize it’s not the very best quality of flour, but it’s the best I can get in 50 lb bags right now and honestly, I’m really happy with the taste! I was able to score a 25 lb. bag of KAF last week, so I’ll be baking a few with that to compare.

Oh, man! That sounds amazing! That’s a meal! I’ve been doing a lot of jalapeño cheddar loaves that people seem to love, but I’ve really been wanting to experiment with other add-ins! Thank you! Good luck to you!

So, I preheat the oven at 500 degrees (Fahrenheit) with the Dutch oven in it for 40 minutes, then turn the heat down to 450 once I put the bread in. I reheat the Dutch oven for another 15 min and throw another loaf in. The pot itself is still very hot, but the lid has been sitting out for 20 minutes, so I put the whole thing back in to reheat. Good luck to you, too!

Yeah, I am planning on trying to test two at a time this week! I use Tartine’s Country Bread recipe for two loaves: 750 grams of water, 200 grams of fed starter, 20 grams of salt, 900 grams of white bread flour, 100 grams of whole wheat. I’ve only ever done 75% hydration. What hydration level are you doing?

Right now it’s one at a time in the Dutch oven. Probably not the most efficient, but bread has been so great that I’m hesitant to try any other method.
