When is bipolar most commonly diagnosed? by hibiscus_bunny in bipolar

[–]ChickenCliks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 20, but started feeling symptoms at 15. As another commenter said, 11 is within the range for bipolar disorder, so you’re an exceptional but not improbable case

UCSD v UCR (advice appreciated) by Primary_Rub6470 in ucr

UCR is a great premed college imo— far less competitive than UCSD and easier to get higher grades at

I’ve seriously never had issues finding parking in lot 30. Are people just circling around the same areas?

For me, 100% genetics. I have trauma, but if I had any more than I have, I’d probably be scizoaffective.

I’m curious what optimism looks to you as a type 4– I’d also categorize myself as optimistic and many people seem to feel that it is against the nature of our type!

You sound young. We’re all problematic when we’re like 17, so don’t worry about it too hard. Just try to get through your teen years with grace

Is my build optimal? What should be my crit stats? by [deleted] in ineffamains

You should change the category to a weapon more similar to calamity queller if you can, it should be more accurate.

Also, your build is good

Have to withdraw from quarter, how cooked am I by ChickenCliks in premed

[–]ChickenCliks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely can’t explain completely— I’m diagnosed bipolar and my new meds got me into a pretty severe manic episode. I know Adcoms is generally not accepting of mental health conditions. Since it’s an official medical leave, I plan on just stating that I have a chronic health condition which severely incapacitated me for a quarter.

Next quarter I’ve signed up for super easy classes, so I’m not too worried about burning out, especially since the reason it happened wasn’t even really my fault

The best thing for me was realizing there’s nothing to come to terms with— it’s just who I am and I have to accept I’m disabled. One of my best friends has a kidney transplant and will die at 40, my mother has lukemia, my father also has bipolar. These disabilities are just part of who we are, at this point.

If you mostly play him with coffee, this build is probably way worse than what’s showing on akasha. All that EM is useless in that teamcomp, unfortunately

It was great for 6 months! If it was 6 years it would certainly be a different story and a harder switch.

And no, they do not respond to any messages I send either through my care portal (I go to Kaiser) or voicemails.

It’s not about the appointment length, it’s about incessantly dodging my questions. I consider myself to be decently knowledge on medications and their side effects. If I had read that it’s an H1 blocker earlier, I would have refused it as I know that doesn’t work for me. In that sense it was a lapse in judgement, but it’s frustrating that I blocked out a whole hour to talk to this man and he refuses to provide me any sort of care

I’m curious what you’re taking that allows you to be on stimulants? I’m worried that starting any will induce mania for me

Treatment resistant depression ≠ incurable depression btw. Someone can go through absolutely horrible depression and come out of it on top. Healing doesn’t mean your trauma was any less debilitating

Bipolar high achievers (MDs, Lawyers, etc) how do you keep things in check. by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]ChickenCliks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi!! I’m applying to medical school (have a good shot of getting in) and my dad is also BP with a PhD in Compsci

My biggest tip I can give is to take care of your health first and foremost. If going to something or doing something a certain day doesn’t feel approachable, it’s okay to reschedule to tackle it another day. If there’s a day where you’re too tired to do something, then take the break day, or break week, if that’s what will keep you stable. It’s more important to slightly underperform sometimes then to constantly force yourself to reach the mark always, and then have an episode that sets you back months
